Read the Best and the Brightest, The Fifties, The Reckoning, and the Powers that be by David halberstam. He’s a superb writer, the books sit at the intersection of history and biography, and you’ll have a better grasp on the American century after you finish (topics are Vietnam, 1950s, rise and fall of Detroit auto vs Japan, and media in 20th century us )
I’m an immigrant so this is actually an amazing list, thank you!
Try A Gentleman in Moscow! Super good read for historical fiction
Chief

@lonslibrary on instagram posts a couple book reviews a week. Beyond that Steve martin, tina fey, or kevin hart's biographies were all fun. Ballad of the Whiskey train robber is the bio of a bank robber/professional hockey player in eastern europe during the fall of the iron curtain. Ken Liu has fabulous fiction short stories.

Where the crawdad sings, the lovely bones, the good immigrant, in the country we love (by diana Guerrero), the latte factor, thanks a thousand (highly highly recommend), dopesick, atomic habits, just mercy, the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime, small great things, the vanishing half, when life gives you lululemons, when breath becomes air, I was Anastasia, the powerbroker, the spirit catches you and you fall down, the great pretender
Crime and Punishment / Dostoyevsky
Freud’s said that everything he learnt in psychology comes from Dostoyevsky, surely because of that book.
Plot is simple yet intrigue is thrilling
