I'm considering part time/online and everyone is advising me against it... They say 'i will miss out'... In reality I think they are saying you will miss out on 2 years of drinking heavily... But I'm a consultant, I've already got that part down.
My thing is that I can't afford to sacrifice two years of income and don't want to move. I don't understand how people make the finances work - would love to hear some thoughts around that. Already have loans from undergrad and am married so wouldn't be wanting or looking to "party" more than I already do with my team when I travel.
You miss out on a lot of the value a full-time MBA provides.
If you're looking to stay at your firm, why are you getting it? If you're looking to switch careers, a full-time MBA is a door into all kinds of jobs where companies compete to get you. An online MBA does not have that and is not a strong credential on a resume.
Curious about this as well- looking at UNCs program
meeting a lot of fun people, building a network of peers, on-campus recruiting, having a party for two years
"So, tell me about your time at Fuqua"
^recruiters are actually staring to ask for just the full time MBA people or a designation on the resume of the students. School recruiting complies
@KPMG1 yeah see I have pleeenty of fun on the weekends already. Might do online for the convenience and price.
There are part time programs where you can work and go to school...brutal, but an online MBA is a waste of time. You get the most value an MBA for network and name...that's what the perception is of those hiring. What you learn is all similar
It's not about "drinking your face off" it's about finding people with similar values and interests. No online
I would laugh if I saw some BS online school on someone's resume
You can bullshit that. You are a consult, right? "Great time. Really enjoyed the classes. Like XXX class. Did you go to Fuqua? "
Agree with @mk1
Mainly the networking, right?
What's the 'value'?
F that
What's the best name brand you can get online? Would be the same as on resume as part time right?
And when we say two years of partying, we don't just mean on the weekends.
Yeah but doesn't fuqua or someone similar do an online mba? How could anyone tell that from part time on your resume?
