Trying to determine if transitioning from my current role as a Manger, Strategy for a ~100 person Fintech working directly with the C-Suite to a Senior Product Manager at Amazon would be a lateral, upward, or downward move. My GC informed our team that he’s leaving today. Great for him!! Although I have good job security and I’m well integrated, I assume that that some of his responsibilities will be divvied among our very small team. The bright side is that I’m not super busy and could probably handle more work. But it would mean that my job would change significantly and I probably can’t maintain WLB. What do I do in this situation? Accept the responsibilities and ask for more money? Start looking elsewhere?

I am currently a “Director, Corporate Legal”, interviewing for a “Senior Corporate Counsel” role at a company with similar market cap, legal department structure, and that would have same level of individual responsibility. So potentially making a purely lateral move. My goal in a few years is to move up to a VP/Deputy GC level. Are Director and Senior Corporate Counsel perceived the same in recruitment, or should I push for a title change to Director if I get an offer?
