Anyone hear about layoffs at GT?

With tech layoffs, are there any companies looking to hire FANG people ? My friend been jobless since Meta layoffs

So GM doesn't hit their bottom line: why are junior practitioners taking the fall with layoffs when this was largely caused by Rachel Miller and GM leadership mismanaging the service line?

Is severance negotiable or is there some type of policy that dictates how much a company can pay out (eg maxes out at two months salary). A friend was just a casualty of a RIF.

Has anyone here ever been on the receiving end of a PIP? Ie 30 day performance review? What was your experience during that window and leading up to (hopefully) quitting to take another job or getting fired? Do people just ride it out and accept their fate and interview their tails off? Would love to hear how they were treated, what mental toll it had, and how to accept you were getting fired before you got fired? And telling coworkers?

Project Leader in team meeting: “If there’s no work for this team to do (for the remainder of the project), then your jobs will be gone.” A few weeks later, after completing everything planned for the MVP, our team was laid off.

Having tough time deciding between IB & Consulting. My thought process: I have a "better" background for IB (TAS/valuation) and with tech layoffs, this might push more potential would-be tech applications to pursue consulting (there by increased competition)? Additionally, you can do IB intern and full time consulting but not vice versa. I prefer consulting, but IB seems like the "safer" option? And if consulting does get hit hard, I would hopefully have a full time IB offer via internship.

Why do consulting firms terminate employment of Junior consultants for no serious reason ? Taking juniors like luxury interim people... I have a friend that got laid off after two probations (6 months for the first probation, 8 for the second) for no reason. She felt profoundly disrespected and says that if nobody can take her longer than 6 months, she can't progress alone. How can she move forward and persuade her future employer to confirm her employment?

The week of my wedding, my husband (PL SQL Developer 4 yoe) was laid off. That was a couple of weeks ago. Luckily I'm still bringing money in as a software engineer, but I'm looking for advice on how to support a partner who has been laid off. Ultimately I think we will be ok, but I know he's hurting / stressed / and could use a supportive partner.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 12. My family did not opt to put me on medication. I illegally discovered Adderall in college. Worked incredible. Got diagnosed after college & after having been fired from my first job. Passed the CPA exams on Adderall. Went off of it again. I do everything well at my job except for attention to detail within my excel files & emails. Will taking ADHD medication really fix this? Does anyone else have this issue and was it resolved by taking medication?

I have an interview with Korn Ferry for an associate principal role and am curious about others’ experiences have been with work-life balance here. Also, I have an idea of what I should be compensated in this type of role, but any insights on how they pay compared to others would be helpful. Are you traveling during the pandemic or have client interactions been virtual? Lastly, if you are a consultant here, are you on billable hours? I have an incredibly freeing life. I work full time remote and whenever I choose. The first year or so was incredibly exciting. But coming around a second year, I’m facing a profound loneliness. everyone around me doesn’t have the same flexibility. Most days, if I go do things I have to go by myself. Booking trips, I’m always “reigned in” to crowded holidays or weekends. I know I’m complaining about something most people would kill for, but it’s a struggle. I don’t really know what to do.
