I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

Region?
Geez.. EY is still laying people off? That is a year of lay offs already.
Central region y'all
But supposedly southeast is worst hit.
Ah that makes more sense. I'd say any layoffs would be region specific. West coast is looking like it'll be relatively light, if not just standard PIPs to weed out. Firm wide, layoffs are supposedly going to be less than last year across the board though.
A bunch of people I know are planning on leaving in July anyways... several can tell they will be held back from senior promotion. I'd tell your friend to start looking for another job now if I were you.
EY Chicago already knocked out around 25 staff 1 and 2s since last June in assurance. How many more could they possibly let go?
Yeah the worst thing is EY Chicago keeps hiring like crazy
Where did you hear Chicago was specifically doing more layoffs
Senior in Risk Advisory - supposedly all Assurance related work is overstaffed, so Risk and Assurance will see more cuts. :(
Damn I can see that happening then. Any idea when these are going to happen? I think one of my friends could possibly be one to be let go
Depends when your round tables were. Ours were two weeks ago but I have a feeling that we will find out with our ratings. Supposedly, PIPs will be in greater reinforcement this year.
I'd think that if a staff has concerns they should ask their counselor if they should start looking for a new job.
