Negotiating within a pay band: offer is $160, but I have a friend at the company who sent the pay band. Midpoint is $160, max is $212. Can I counter at $212 or is that egregious? Should I disclose I know that it’s within band if I do? FWIW I’d leave for $180 so that’s the true end goal
