Just accepted an offer at a public company. Going through their benefits, I see they’ve got an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP). On paper, it looks to be free money (purchase at 85% of stock value with lookback option every 6mos). Need to determine how long, if at all, I’d have to hold it after purchase.

My question is: Whats your experience with an ESPP? How do you maximize its value?
