My first holiday season in-house after a couple of decades in private practice, doing the same kind of transactional work that I’ve always done. My year is functionally done. No one else is around or working. I’ve been so conditioned to expect to grind out through the holidays that it makes me think of how Brooks in Shawshank had become “institutionalized.” I only worked hard the last couple of days because I set some deadlines so as to get things tied up before the holidays - the old mindset!
