Highly recommend doing your due diligence. I worked for MCM <year and found the toxic culture and mind numbing work to be very demoralizing. I happily took a pay cut to jump to a role where my voice mattered and the problems were actually interesting.
This is part of my dd process
Are u questioning the co.? Of course they are legit...used them all the time as an engineer
Know a few ppl that work/have worked there. My observations (without firsthand knowledge) Good money and benefits, seems like fairly boring work, seem pretty strict on the hours you are at work (I.e. If you work 8-5 or 7-4, they expect the face time) but I don’t get the sense that people bring work home. Went to a top b school with some ppl who worked there so the experience is decent
MvMaster Carr is a very well known firm in the areas they work in. Lots (most) of my clients use them as a supplier. Just because you or your friends haven’t heard of them doesn’t mean they’re not a well known or respected firm.
Pro
I heard that their environment is pretty toxic. Very political environment too.

This has been the same story for 15 years. I grew up as an engineer in SoCal with loads of buddies here.
They have a location in the Cleveland suburb I grew up in. People there make good money. They are def a legit company so I wouldn’t worry about that
I was offered a job and turned it down. Perks are really good (they’ll pay for you to go back to school) however they are very strict on hours and FaceTime with little opportunity to Wfh. People did not seem happy and I was used to something with more flexibility.
I declined my 2nd round interview, similar reasoning
There are some great perks but heard not good culture.
Tbh with a over 50% jump I don't think culture really matters that much. I'm more worried about exit ops as 1) no one has heard of the company 2) the work itself seems boring and specific to the industry
People have heard of the company... had friends in bschool from there.
It’s in the burbs, I don’t like their culture tbh but my friend works there and the pay is really good! Just know it’s not super diverse and they monitor everything you do.
They’re known within a very niche space but niche here doesn’t equal bad experience. They tend to favor some level of consulting experience as they do almost, if not everything, in house.

It would make sense to buy a car if you were commuting 5 days a week instead of taking bus+train+bus for 4 hours/day. If you make $100k+, you should be able to afford it. As I am assuming you don’t have DUI, I am unsure why are we even talking about a 4h+ daily commute.
One of my old college classmates worked for them. Feedback was decent pay, bad culture. I actually interviewed with them before too. I didn’t really get good vibes and I actually felt offended for the first time in an interview. If I remember correctly it is family owned so that does change the political dynamic from what most people may be used to.
