What does the progression track look like for post-mba consultants at MBB? Specifically, are there notable differences in promotion timing amongst the firms? I’ve noticed on LinkedIn that several BCGers have reached principal level in 3.5 years (2 as consultant, 1.5 as PL) whereas it seems to take a minimum of 4 years but sometimes even 5 for McK to reach AP level (which I believe is the equivalent?) Is this an accurate assessment?

Went on a final interview today and the interviewer yawned through my presentation, was so BRUTAL with feedback, and was just super low-energy. This dude picked apart my entire presentation and frowned through all of it. Up until this point, everyone that I interviewed with said the presentation was great, but some things that need improvement. I just don’t understand how it’s normal that it’s expected that you make presentations and work for free— just to have someone take a huge shit on you.

How do you know when to up the dose on your meds? Currently on 40 mg Vyvanse. I usually get the peak euphoria feeling (super alert) about 1 hour after i take my meds and it lasts for a couple of hours. I work late but have noticed that i spend too much time staring at the screen and keep jumping between tasks. Would upping the dose help me concentrate on one task at a time? From the outside, I always thought of PE firms to be well-oiled machines where everyone is working hard but with a clear purpose. Now starting at an LMM as a senior associate I feel kind of lost. It’s chaos - every person above me wants something else and there are constant discussions, bickering and politics being played. Is this representative of other (LMM?) PE firms, or did I get unlucky? It feels like a tech startup lol.
