Anyone here been successful at getting an exemption to avoid the vaccine? I'm nervous about it for a number of reasons, namely health related, but I don't even know where to begin trying to get an exemption and I'm starting to panic. Any advice???

I'd be nervous about getting Covid. What makes you nervous about getting the vaccine??

Yes, and what about the unicorn whose d* fell off? What nonsense!

I’d fire you if it was up to me.

Same sentiment here. I don't know why we need to mollycoddle high functioning i*cy.

The number of people who've experienced complications from the vaccines is far, far less than the number of people who contracted COVID and ended up in hospital with serious symptoms. There is literally no reason to avoid the vaccine.

GR1 read the CDC data. I don't find my info on Facebook. That was a bit insulting. Have a good day.

Why are you nervous? Asking legitimately… There are very, very few reasons for a medical exemption (at least from credible clinicians), so maybe this is about confronting what is making you feel nervous (since it sounds more about anxiety) rather than trying to find a way to get what *sounds* like isn’t really a necessary exemption.

like

I would think you would start with your primary care doctor.

You may have to shop around, though, because the only legitimate medical reasons are a known allergy to one type of vaccine, AND demonstrated allergy to the other type - which is very rare.

Maybe worth noting that my wife is an attending at our local hospital, and the only people she has seen in the ICU, or dead, are the unvaccinated and a couple of >80yo

And the vaccine injured are out there. Any time they speak out, their social media platforms are being canceled. Ask yourself why. Also, please dig into. I trust that you're truly curious. You'll see it. It's sad. If you'd like to speak to anyone that was vaccine injured, it won't be difficult for you to find them.

Mmmmm I love some myocarditis in the morning. It’s your body OP. Don’t waste time arguing with these people, they don’t live your life.

Dead is better than the remote possibility of myocarditis. More than vaccination, birth control is a better thing to promote.

Get the vaccine and stop being silly. You are putting other people's lives in danger.

Prove this wrong: In Scotland, a highly vaccinated country, vaccinated people are more than twice as likely to be infected as the unvaccinated - and people who have received a booster are 30 percent more likely.

I wish more people who were nervous about the vaccine would be more nervous about having a tube stuck down their throat and about the people working in the overwhelmed hospital who have to do it. Not to mention to stop worrying about themselves in general and worry about literally every other person on earth whom they are putting at risk by not following proven science. These vaccines aren't speculation, they're scientific fact. Like water being 2 hydrogen molecules attached to 1 oxygen molecule to make water. No less a scientific fact that vaccines can prevent infection and absolutely protect against severe disease. Covid doesn't care if you get vaccinated. It hopes you don't. It needs hosts to infect and mutate and kill more people.

likesmartfunny

You say the vaccines are scientific fact, when the data collection on them hasn't even reached the length of time required to be considered "completed" like with any other vaccine, AND was skewed and stopped short mid-test.

(Just read the Pfizer and Moderna websites for their vaccine testing periods and you'll see them openly admit that their control group who was given the placebo was actually terminated Dec 2020 and they were instead switched over to the vaccine. How can you call that a control group then?) They also didn't include anyone who was pregnant, immunocompromised, over a certain age, or had comorbidities or other medical conditions. Yet we're allowing all of those groups to be immunized with this vaccine without any data collection from the test result reactions.

And on the contrary, you have hundreds of medical professionals, virologists, and specialists who have decades worth of medical studies and reports that are published in scientific journals that are now being censored - or their findings are being removed and discredited - because it doesn't fit the big-pharma paid narrative.

Government and Big Pharma do not have your best interest at heart. Their job is push vaccines because it brings them revenue, not because it's what is best for society. If it was truly intended to solve the pandemic crisis, then they would have taken the proper steps and length of time to wait and see what adverse reactions occur (rather than disregarding the tens of thousands of people who actually report these reactions daily to their hospital providers, VAERS or the health departments), what the longterm affects are, and wait out the proper approval process. Instead they're cutting corners to avoid liability because they're not financially responsible as long as its under an EUA order.

Good luck man. I've had numerous friends and family look into getting exemptions in a range of industries and frankly I haven't seen it be easy. The best strategy I've come up with so far is just be okay with the idea you may need to leave your position. Fortunately there are plenty of positions available depending on your skill set, so I've had a few back up plans lined up in case anything goes south (which I'm of the opinion it's gonna get a lot worse for us before it gets better). Get out of the cities and trust God for the rest. GL

Plus, I've already had COVID, and a lot of the data I've seen recently indicates that natural immunity is better than what you get with the vax.

What do you expect that exemption to do for you?

As a practical matter, places like NY won't let you eat indoors even with an exemption. Travel to many countries will not accept a medical note in lieu of vaccination.

About the only thing the exemption will do is give you a crutch to stay employed. It does not open many more doors for you.

Just make sure you're chasing something that will actually be useful.

I should have specified. I doubt I'd be able to get a medical exemption, so my post is more about religious exemption. I've read some of the data from VAERS and it's quite concerning, particularly since I am not considered to be "high risk" for COVID complications. https://www.medalerts.org/vaersdb/findfield.php?TABLE=ON&GROUP1=CAT&EVENTS=ON&VAX=COVID19

Who’s mandating? You’re free to go live in the woods by yourself and not interact with the rest of society. Just like with roads, schools, and everything else, participation requires following rules intended to protect the greater good. Why do you think you deserve special treatment?

Go for the religious exemption. The EEOC has an entire page devoted to how they adjudicate cases of discrimination due to religious belief (according to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964), and the guidance is so broad, there's basically no way they can deny you the exemption as long as your belief is "sincerely held" and they can grant you an accommodation that has a "de minimis" impact on the business. There are examples on the page that border on the absurd. Assuming you're bright enough, it should be very easy to craft your accommodation request such that they can't deny you.

If they fire you due to your refusal, then you go ahead and file a formal complaint, follow up with a lawsuit, etc. I and everyone I know at my company who filed a religious accommodation request was granted it. Businesses are afraid of being sued more than anything. In a way, I was actually hoping I could be denied so I could go ahead and start working for my buddy and maybe even get a payday out of it.

The mandate will be thrown out of court, it only exists to get as many people jabbed as possible, and as soon as possible, regardless of whether or not they need it or want it. So, just play the game. According to their own rules, you can't lose. Don't be afraid. Fear is what they count on instilling in you and everyone else so that you'll do whatever they say. The last 2 years has been a testament to this.

like

But actually, yes, I would be ecstatic if people with your mentality would throw their support behind repealing the Civil Rights Act and the eliminating the EEOC, which is allowing the "screw[ing of] the rest of mankind", in your carefully laid-out argument.

Just get the vaccine. there are no good health reasons to NOT get the vaccine. any risks that have been attributed to the vaccine are much higher with covid and you will get Covid as omicron is so highly transmissible.

and the people that points towards a booster or waning efficacy - many of the other vaccines require multiple dosages. look at a mandated (!) children vaccination schedule in any US state for example.

lastly as was pointed out rightly below - risk of hospitalization or death is significantly higher for unvaxxed - even the young ones as well as permanent lung damage as the case can be more severe than a break through infection.

don't be scared of the vaccine - be scared of unmitigated covid. it has killed over 5m people already

My husband and I wrote a religious exemption (he works for the govt. so testing was not an option). From all of my research, we decided to write our own letter of our "sincerely held, personal religious beliefs", instead of copy/pasting a template online.

In fact, many of our friends who used a template had their exemptions denied.

Since the government doesn't really know how to approach these exemptions, and each region's department head gets to decide what the "punishment" is, we decided to capitalize on the time of keeping his job while they're all trying to figure things out and how to proceed.

As you know, the govt. contractors court case overturned the mandates, so I expect (and hope) that this will be overruled for govt employees soon also.

My recommendation would be to avoid any medical data or philosophical beliefs in your letter. It's not a philosophical exemption, it's a religious one. They don't care to see data about vaccine efficacy or adverse reactions, they don't care to hear about what you think regarding the rushed timelines of the vaccine etc etc.

Everything in that letter should point back to why it goes against your PERSONAL religious belief. I'd also avoid associating yourself with a pastor/faith leader or organization since they could take a public stance on the vaccine at some point. Instead, this is all about your own personal history with that faith and how it led you to believe the way you do about vaccines. (We also took the approach of explaining our beliefs on vaccines in general, rather than just the specificity of the COVID vaccine)

FWIW - I agree with you that this is a personal decision. Your medical choice is not the business of anyone else here, nor the government's. Ignore the commentary and do what is best for yourself - that's the beauty of living in a country where we have freedom - and medical freedom should not be excluded from that.

My hope is that natural immunity will soon be recognized (we both made sure to have our positive COVID tests on our medical records just in case it is acknowledged one day). We're already seeing the media narratives change about COVID hospitalizations, vaccine efficacy, mandates being overturned, and policies starting to change. Hold strong! This madness won't last forever - even though it feels like it's been far too long already.

(I tried to get a link directly to CDC but had trouble finding a clear graph on my phone; though what I found did put AZ up in the highest tier for cumulative rate/100K, so I think the linked data is accurate)

Talk to your Dr. Only in the rarest cases would you be considered medically exempt - I mean, really, REALLY rare, and nervousness doesn't count. Treat this vaccine as would any other civic duty, because it is.
