Hey! One of my colleagues had it quite bad and she was amazing with how she managed it. 1 hour of low intensity gym every morning (walking or treadmill), come rain or shine. Took ownership of what the team ordered for lunch so could always pick the food, militantly picked healthy items that she knew were good for her, also ordered for the same time each day. Always got sleep. Always went on 5 min walks in the day.
Probiotics have helped me a lot
Also my doc recently prescribed something called EnteraGam... it’s a medical food that you have once a day and apparently really helps. I haven’t gotten on it yet so can’t comment unfortunately but ask your GI
I also have IBS. Having a good schedule helps, but honestly consulting is pretty much antithesis to this.
It's a big reason why I left.
Probiotics have helped me. I buy it monthly from amazon - Ora brand. Align is often recommended by MDs. Go with a trusted brand
I’ve always used Culturelle. Costco has probiotics for a good price
First, see a doctor. Duh
Second, they'll probably tell you to up your fiber. Pysillium pills aka metamucile helps a lot.
Third, what others said.
Fibre doesn’t always help. It sometimes backfires... at least it did with me 🤷♀️
There was just a good thread on this:

Try carnivore diet (no plants) or low FODMAP
See this thread for carnivore IBS success anecdotes: https://www.reddit.com/r/zerocarb/comments/8bkp73/any_ibs_success_stories_on_this_diet/
I’m with you and I travel quite a bit. The stress can be a huge trigger but the diet above helps. I went keto about a year ago and have found it to be helpful. Walking meetings every few hours, hot tea, eat well, exercise. I flair up every now and then and just work from a bean bag chair or something I can curl into away from the team. Most are aware that when I need to be in a different room for a bit, that’s usually why. It is manageable!
There’s a related thread here and everyone seems to be suggesting a low FODMAP diet, which I haven’t tried, but seems to work for some. Exercise and staying hydrated definitely helps, but so much of it seems to just be the stress...I find that sometimes having coffee/tea in the morning and relaxing for a few minutes can help.
I personally haven’t had much luck with doctors...
The key is finding what affects you the most and trying to eliminate it from your diet. For me it was Oats, rice, flour, corn, beans, veggies that weren’t cooked enough, etc. Moving to a Keto-type diet helped a lot. Increasing water helped a lot. Fiber is iffy - that’s the first thing doctors would say but you have to find something that doesn’t further aggravate.
