No tips but WOW! Congratulations, that is impressive.
Thank you ZS1!
Congrats! Lost 90 pounds and had a lot of loose skin. I did a male chest reduction and liposuction. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Thank you EY1!! I'll DM. Congrats !
OP, congrats! I'm down 150 and I've been thinking a lot lately about getting some skin removal surgeries (specifically breast reduction / removal and an excess abdomen skin removal). I'm trying to weigh cost, recovery, and possible complications. I love working out and I'm afraid the surgeries would take me out of the game for awhile. And watching episodes of botched bodies really freaks me out.
Same boat PwC1! Congrats on the weight loss! I think you only need 3-4 weeks off exercise? Agree though that it looks scary, for me it's more like being 14 percent body fat still looks like 20s because of the loose skin. Do you think you'll ever do it?
^ I hear you, but maybe thinking about how good it would look after is better than what ca. go wrong... botched bodies shows only the most horrible exceptions. Do an image browse on before and after pictures. I have not done this type of procedure but other intervention - best decision but I was very fearful too.
K1 - I lost my weight over the course of about 1.5 years. With that said, your skin has been stretched for so long that it won't go completely "back to normal" no matter how slowly you lose weight (or so I've been told by my physician)
Wow, that’s an achievement! 150 lbs in 1.5 years 👏 how much did you weigh initially ?
I lost 85lb in 6mo back in my freshman year (~15y ago)(Christ I’m old) and while the lifestyle has obvi improved I still unfortunately have the skin no matter how much I workout (5-6x a week for basically the entire 15y with great diet) and am finally considering a tummy tuck or a mini one sometime this year. I view this as coming full circle and have heard generally positive reviews and the recovery time seems to only be a week or two as far as being out or commission work wise.
Thanks Mck2! Congrats on your decision and your results and glad you're considering it!
First question is what’s top steps because of which you were able to lose weight. Trying it for few weeks. The needle is not moving
Interesting. Are you weighing the same time of the week? I’d recommend weekend morning, after the morning ritual. Your body weight can fluctuate 4-5 pounds in a day easily given water intake, food etc.
Agree with the weights suggestion, and also try to include complex carbs like sweet potatoes, quinoa. Better to avoid fatty dressings on salads and other hidden calories like cheese, crouton. Drinks can also pile up hidden calories, so can snacks, chips, lattes etc. Keep em max 3-4 x a week.
You'd eventually want to target a 3500 calorie deficit a week to lose 1 pound a week, or plus minus based on your goals. But ease into it.
Congratulations to you. That’s really amazing and hard to do
Thank you McK1!
How fast did you loose this weight that the body did not adapt? Just a novice question
Haha 1.5 years. I was 280 pounds so 130 was a lot of you look at it % wise, so I believe that the loose skin was inevitable 🤷🏽♂️.
OP, if you ever do it or find something please share! Thank you for the tips
Will do EY3!
Wow!! Congratulations! Yes I went to grad school with a girl who got it last year. She is doing great! She would be more than willing to talk with you.
DM sounds good 👌
Not helpful for your question but Congratulations!!!
Thanks M1
Check with your MD before you go straight to plastics. I had WLS, and I know a lot of people get skin removal after, and a lot of it was covered by insurance. Look up a Panniculectomy (sp?) but check first! You may be able to qualify it medically necessary if it’s causing any rubbing, mobility, or skin issues
Thank you so much!
Congratulations !!!! That’s an amazing feat ! I lost 100lbs about 10 years ago and did a breast reduction and lift and an abdominoplasty (Tummy tuck) with liposuction. Happy to answer any questions, although I’ve had a friend do the same and her recovery time and results were somewhat different, so it is surgeon and person dependent. In my case, one of the best decisions I’ve made, I wouldn’t do the liposuction though If I were to do it again. Recovery from the tummy tuck+lipo was rough, about 2 weeks of not being able to do anything (my friend took a lot less to recover, but she didn’t remove as much skin as I did). Took about 3 months to feel like I had recovered and about 6 months to do more extreme sports again without the area bothering me and recuperating sensation on the area below the belly button ...
Congrats to you too for your weight loss and the surgery! Glad you felt that it was the right decision.
