You can absolutely recover with some time off, but you need to disconnect from work as much as possible while you’re on vacation. Let people know in advance that you won’t be reachable while you’re gone. Then don’t check your phone or email more than once a day. You’ll come back feeling like an entirely new person if you let yourself relax without work worries in the back of your mind.
If you're still WFH and don't have a lot going on right now, just don't do anything. A decent firm won't ride you for having one slower month. I've been where you are and this has helped me tremendously--just not putting pressure on myself to make work after a tremendous slog.
Totally agree. Don't take medical leave if you don't hve to. Just take 2 or 3 weeks off amd truly disconnect-if someone asks you to work, let them know your on vacation. I recently had terrible months like you and took 2 weeks off and now i'm golden. But when i was away someone asked me to do work-i politely told them I was on vacation and they should get in touch with the person covering for me and they left me alone
I didn't attempt to do that because there have been people in my firm who did but were still being hounded by seniors. In short, the "wellness leave" didn't work and the associates left soon after.
I took 3 weeks off as a vacation but made it clear I’d be disconnecting because I also had medical issues to sort out. So long as you’re on track with your hours, it shouldn’t be an issue and you’d be even more justified to tell people you don’t plan to do any work during that time. That said, I don’t think 3 weeks was nearly enough and I’ve had to make up by ramping up very slowly and deliberately keeping space on my schedule for recovery.
I am in exactly the same boat
