Yes. I had to have surgery to get it repaired. It hurt, but not the worse thing ever.
Really bad, I also had additional issues including partially torn biceps at the top, and a torn labrum. So, I had to get all that repaired. They stitched me back together!
I’m fairly certain I did something to it. Initially thought pulled muscle, still hurt after a few days. Then thought pinched nerve. A month later it’s still hurting and based on the range of movement that makes it hurt, I’m fairly certain it’s that. Haven’t been the doc yet because I’ve been road warrioring for a month to hit my billable hours. RIP the gym.
Could be impingement
Get physical therapy when you can. I had severe shoulder tendinitis and basically stopped using my left arm. It has been a long road to recovery. Do not underestimate the healing process.

I blew up the tendons that hold the clavicle to the shoulder blade and will probably need surgery. Tried Physical Therapy first but it’s not back to where I want it.

After several dislocated shoulders initially from skateboarding as a kid, I thought it would be cool to do the lethal weapon party trick through college by dislocating it and popping it back in. As I got older certain activities would cause severe pain, mostly pushups/planks and heavy weights. Turns out I have merely a remnant of a rotator cuff. I'm not an athlete and it doesn't impede golf or sailing so I decided against surgery and just get a cortisone shot once, maybe twice a year.
Yes. It took several months. Was hard/impossible to even lift my arm for the first few weeks. Now, almost a decade later I still feel it when i lift my arm past my shoulders.
