Hi Fishes, can someone please draw some light on the maximum package being offered by KPMG Global Services for Consultant - FDD (Deal Advisory Practice). Qualification - Chartered Accountant Experience - 2Years (PQE) Current Role - Audit Senior at EY GDS Current CTC - 10.5L
Genuine question as I wanted to know is it strange for someone to want to switch to advisory from tax. Would it be difficult for someone to transition from that position? I understand that they are too completely different work but similar fields. Also wanted to know what’s the day to day basis like for advisory during covid and in general
I’ve been asked to do an accounting assessment for a role in FAAS at EY as a Senior. Anyone have any idea what sort of questions I should expect?
I currently make $132k and have not had a IRA. Is it worth opening one if I expect my next raise to bring me above $139K (which is the income limit for a single)?
Sometimes I feel like my boss takes "coaching" a little too far. He's all about "breaking me down" in order to "build me up". He's told me things like my voice is too boring when I present, or that I didn't do enough in my last role, suggesting that I wouldn't be in his team if it weren't for him in team meetings. Yesterday he asked me to call someone (on a non-urgent topic) who was on DND, and when I told them I'd call them later, he mimicked me. Am I being too sensitive?
6th year L&E associate here and thinking about transitioning to a position with better WLB. How do you go about getting a government job and are they flexible about WFH, at least a couple of days a week? Recruiters reach out all the time, but always about other firm positions. Tips/ advice much appreciated!
Imagine for a moment that all strategic consulting firms in the region would have consultants work no later than 9pm. Do you think the quality of the output would decrease? Or maybe the pricing the client is willing to pay would be lower? Or perhaps nothing would happen? I am thinking whether we work long hours because it’s by now part of work approach and culture or because we need to. (Personal experience: in London for my same firm I used to work much less and the output was great…)
Hey y'all I have an initial call with Facebook within for the Business Planning & Operations Associate role. Does anybody have any insight into the process? Any SQL required?
What’s the deal with drug testing for weed if you have a medical card? I assume a company/client can’t hold that against you?
What's the earliest in someone's tenure you've seen them fired from MBB and why? (Looking for validation that the feeling like I'm doing a sub-par job, but trying to be coachable, 7 months into my job doesn't equate to getting fired in the next 5-17 months...)
I would be joining IBM as a project manager. I wanted to move again to technical role in some time. Please share your experiences how easy is it to move. I want to move to Data engineering side. Your response would be appreciated 🙏🙏
At a B4 now. I want to stay in consulting. Should I be considering any other firms besides MBB and T2?
What are some of the M&A Strategy & Operations Exit ops? Currently focusing mostly on post merger integration and premerger planning as well as synergy assessment. I-banking possible without MBA?
I need opinions on this. Just started a new PM role (at an IPG agency) last month but I recently got hit up by a recruiter from another agency (WPP agency) for a pretty enticing PM role on a 360 AOR account. Further context: The PM role I'm in currently is my first PM role ever (I came from an entry level AE/Producer backgrund) I know jumping ship for the other PM role would look terrible but tell me why you would OR would not jump ship?
Ladies I am 35 weeks pregnant and going on maternity leave in 2-3 days. Politics on my project has led to poor project snapshots. What should I do?
Has anyone done the interview for an Account Strategist role at Google? Or is currently in the role? If so, I’d love to chat!
Move-up Anyone seen or know anyone that traded-up from one MBB to another MBB? Eg. A BCG PL hired as Principal at Bain; a Principal at Bain hired as Partner at McK; a consultant at McK hired a M etc
I just got laid off from a strategy consulting boutique in the UK that primarily works with PE funds doing CDD/VDD. It goes without saying that the market is terrible. I suspect no strategy firms are hiring and it will need to be an in-house move or if I could stretch it PE/VC. What are people’s thoughts and does anyone have any advice?
Staffed on a project but looking for my next role. Every time I network with someone the answer is “nothing right now but I have this proposal.” I’ve said yes a few times now I’m slammed doing...
Just completed two years at D. Joined as an SC after MBA now an M. Cumulative earning in this period was 470k - base + bonuses + tuition + retention. I’d say that’s not bad. I even enjoy the work and am aligned with some partners that do some cool work. That said, my main goal is to make $ and I feel I’m now going to fall behind folks in other firms. I can manage bad WLB for another 5/6 yrs and I enjoy consulting. I think I need to move to another firm. Thoughts on my next steps given my goals?
What are expense policies at like other agencies? Dinner, travel, etc... trying to determine which one of our shops are the most generous with their employees. 👐
what is the best way to turn down a project? i just started at this company and know beggars can’t be choosers but this role is for staff aug and 100% not what i want to be doing
Does anyone know of where to find remote part time work opportunities for older Indian women? My mom was a part-time after school teacher but has not been doing that due to covid (dad is high risk). I’m having her do some online typing lessons to get her to be a faster typer, maybe find her a data entry gig. She does not want to do nanny’ing / babysitting. She’s a great teacher though and she’s trilingual (Telugu, hindi) - anyone know of where to find opportunities?
I know we all love the work from home (or do we?) but does anyone actually miss traveling for their consulting engagements and all the fun that goes along with it? The late nights at the office then the bar and random hookups and excitement and all that? Sure it’s a grind but I think I actually miss it too. Maybe I just miss seeing people at work or seeing people at all. I wonder if we’ll ever get back to that.
Anyone know what the salary range is for a Product Strategy associate salary at Tik Tok?
Does B4 let people go the same day as their resignation only if they’re going to a direct competitor? How about MBB or a tier 2 consulting firm? Have people been let go immediately in case they go to FAANG or other industry firms?
Have an offer that pays ~$350-450k a year, but is very bonus heavy and about 25% of that or more will be restricted stock and options. Making ~$350k now all cash. And the way it’s structured, in the first year I’ll end up being ~$50k short for the year of where I would be if I stayed. Also requires a big move to a location I’m not too keen on. WLB is better, probably 50 hours a week but need to be plugged in 100% of the time. Any considerations I haven’t really thought about? What should I ask?
Anyone else feeling like every single day of work in consulting with the current home office set up is a real pain & struggling to motivate to even care about the job? Any advice to regain motivation? Balancing long hours and constant time pressure without sitting together with the team and the client seems so much harder
Hey everyone, so my sister and her boyfriend have both gained about 60-70 pounds since COVID started. I’m getting very concerned for them and I’ve seen firsthand how they’re developed awful eating and drinking habits and they hardly ever exercise. I’m very concerned for them, but I have no idea how to talk about it with them and not make them angry or hurt. Any advice on how to have this difficult conversation?
What really is the hierarchy or ranking for Non-mbb firms? Is there a firm more prestigious in Big 4 than the other in terms of exit opps?
I’m done trying to compensate for a broken system. I know it means that the kids will suffer from a substandard education, but as long as they think we will pick up the slack it will never change.
Have Deloitte promo timelines gotten considerably longer recently? Have heard about: A -> C = 3 years, C -> SC = 4 years, SC -> M = 4 years. Is it the same across other B4 firms?
Accidentally gave the wrong insurance information and was told there'd be a $1000 deductible. I can't stop thinking about how millions of Americans can't have access to healthcare because of this 😓
Getting far along in the interview process.. kind of starting to get cold feet. Anyone been in the same spot (current job is not exciting anymore but fear of the unknown giving you second thoughts)?
Really got into investing this year. Have about 60-65 percent of my money in investments (not including 401k). I want to add more, but not sure if that’s enough.
Should I be worried that my 401k YTD return is only 4.13%? Not sure how accurate that number is, if it is....pls help 🥲
Hi, all! I’ve been in philanthropy/development space for my entire career w/some community impact/CSR work. Any advice on how to transition from nonprofit to CSR or corporate foundation? I did a post masters certificate in CSR, but I’m having no luck turning that into an opportunity.
