So no takers? I'm currently talking to Epstein and wonder what comp is like over there. Any idea so far?

I have former classmates I’m tempted to ask but I wanted to do my due diligence here first. Surprised not even a PM.

So, I started watching “Limitless” with Chris Hemsworth. Apparently, he found out he carries both genes for dementia which puts him at a higher risk. So the series is about him changing things in his life for longevity. The third episode is about fasting and he fasts for 4 days until the day he has to hunt for his food. Does anyone in healthcare have thoughts on this type of fasting? I know it is done in some cultures and religions, but to what extent?

Hi, looking for some advice. I’ve been a medical assistant for 10 years, and am finishing up my bachelor’s in healthcare management. However finding hard looking for practice or office manager positions, as they’re looking for people with 3+ years of management experience. How can I get an organization to take the chance to invest in me and give me the opportunity to prove I have what it takes. We all have to start somewhere.

Well here is a new issue I am troubleshooting today. We have an ADA reasonable accommodation request for gluten free cookies at the reception after the holiday talent show for an employee with celiac disease. I think we might be required to grant this request. Employee has the same right to access the benefits of employment with us as everyone else - here that benefit would be baked goods at the reception. I suppose celiac impairs a major life function - eating, and is a disability. Thoughts?

HELP!
I verbally accepted a job offer at a company yesterday and hours later I got a call from a job I was more interested in with better pay, vacation time, and 401k match. I’m talking double vacation and 401k match. They know I already accepted something else and were motivated to move quickly. Assuming all goes well with this other company and the interview, is it terrible to go back on my current job offer? I haven’t signed anything yet and I wouldn’t start until next month.

Has anyone negotiated pay at a hospital or company that states they have different levels/tiers of fixed pay for so-and-so profession and can’t budge? I’ve worked in other fields prior to healthcare and have a hard time believing every (pick profession like PT) gets paid exactly (pick random number like $72,345). I’m skeptical because it sounds like “we have levels/tiers of fixed pay and can’t budge” is just an excuse to shut down negotiation right away. Can anyone share their experience?

Hello fellow fishies, can you share the salary range for junior manager and manager levels in Cyber department of Deloitte Netherlands? They say manager earns as a base salary (without benefits or bonus) max 6, 300 euros per month? And junior manager even a lot lower! Thanks in advance.

Currently an M interviewing for an SM industry role. Pay would be roughly the same as my current salary. Recruiter was vague on total comp but briefly touched benefits including 10k-25k for degree programs per year, roughly 18% annual bonus, & an unknown amount of RSUs.

What left a sour impression was that the recruiter couldn’t respond to a “TC” number, scheduled a connect in <24 hours, called me 5 minutes late for a 30 minute call & put me on hold for a personal call 🙄. 🚩🚩or HR being HR?

How common is it for IT/ DE to give people reporting tables with 100s of columns?

I come from an org that we focused on having a reporting data warehouse with tall narrow tables, and it made for great performance at the cost of small complexity in queries.

Now, I am in a company where IT wastes an inordinate amount of time, normalizing data into one massive table with terrible performance.

How common is this? Is there any advantage to big 100s of columns tables?

Maybe it’s the pandemic, maybe its the lack of social interaction, and inability to go out on the weekend. But lately I’ve been having tons of anxiety.

The firm is great. I’m being paid above market rate, no cut (yet), still have my perks, but these emails I get from one of the managing partners gives me anxiety. To be fair, I’m probably overreacting. But when I get emails like I’m disappointed, I have to rewrite this, oh this is wrong w this. I get super anxious and annoyed

I’m at a boutique right now, not super well known outside our niche in public finance. We do debt capital markets transactions, and some strategic advisory type M&A work.

In Aug. I’ll have 1Yr in IB, combined with my prior 1Yr In consulting. Should apply to a more brand name IB firm, or stick it out here until 2024? End goal would be to hopefully attend H, W, or S in the fall ‘24. I’m thinking if I stay I might make associate by ‘24, but if I leave I’ll prob work more & get more experience + $.
