I am a second year manager on a possible promotion path to SM in 2021. Just got an acceptance email from an executive MBA program (in the top 10 list in the US) that I had applied for on a complete whim and got through. Do you think it’s a good proposition, considering my career trajectory within the company? Looking for some perspective.
Do MBA adcoms consider your undergraduate extracurriculars? Coming from a state school due to full scholarship but with high GPA and leadership in extracurriculars. Hoping to offset lack of brand name
Left a pretty cushy industry job post-MBA to get into consulting, because of relocation (family stuff). For folks that came over from industry, when did you start feeling comfortable with the pace, culture, and being a consultant in general? TIA
Hit an important milestone today - Feeling dead inside without any excitement or goals. Is it too much wine? - Yes Is 3 too many years to spend in consulting? - Yes Can I go to MBA next year? - No
What's the best time to talk to your manager/HR about the possibility of getting sponsorship for MBA? A) Before Applying to schools B) After Securing an admit C) When you are about to put in papers.
Anyone used a professional MBA admissions counseling service? Feel like they'd be extremely useful but a ~$8000 price tag (for 4 schools) is outrageous.
Did any of you decide to not do the CPA exam? I’ve been half ass studying for 3.5 years and honestly think I don’t want to do it, which is holding me back. I feel pressure from the firm leadership tho
Does anyone know if they’re going to extend deadlines for the CPA exam? FAR is expiring at the end of April for me but with COVID 19 the proctoring center might be closed...
Anybody refinanced student loans with Earnest? How does it compare to Sofi or any of the other better known ones who claim to account for earnings potential (i.e. would benefit me for MBA loans)?
The only good things about pre-mba events being virtual is that I can’t be messy and start getting a reputation already 😂
Looking for open positions and referrals for associate/consultant positions for oncology. I have a PhD in Cell Biology, MBA certification in Pharmaceutical business and 6 months consulting experience
Why do people get MBA? First year consultant and don’t understand why so many of my peers are telling to go after 2 years working.
Will filing for unemployment / receiving benefits come up during a background check for MBA programs? I am currently doing work for my family business as I am transitioning between roles. I’ve been thinking of not accepting benefits so it’s easier to explain I was doing something tangible in between jobs. Thanks guys
Just did the Facebook loop interview. I bombed two out of the six interviews, there is no way I’m getting the job... I was so keen on the job, what a pity and so disheartening
Anyone heard of Steampunk (formerly SE Solutions)? Would love insight since the culture and reviews seem too good to be true...
Anyone have any interview tips for a PE operational associate role interview? Have one coming up and not sure what to expect as it’s my first. Should I be case prepping?
Going from a big company to a small company is such a huge difference. At BDO if i wanted a new monitor, it would have to go through like 3 different approvals. Now at my current job, i asked for a new monitor and they gave me the corporate CC and told me to buy on Amazon. 😂
I ordered my steak medium-well and room service brought fish tacos. How many points should I ask for?
Put more money into the market. Fed will not raise rates in 3 years. No where we late to put sideline money now. More money will rush into money in the short term 12-36 months
I really miss my parents but live in a different state. I’m constantly worried about their health and hope they’re safe. Any tips on dealing with this kind of anxiety?
A Jr PM was on a call with a client who was making inappropriate comments (using slang for anuses and making jokes about pedophilia). She was rightfully uncomfortable and expressed her concerns to our team. The CD on the account has come to me, as her manager, to discuss if she’d be better off on another account as he doesn’t think the culture on the client side is going to change. She is comfortable staying on; am I misguided in not removing her? I don’t want to “punish” her for speaking up.
Is it worth pursuing a joint JD/MBA dual degree? I know Northwestern offers a 3 year program, and I’m comfortably in the middle of their 80% range admission stats. Would use the GI bill to pay for it
I’m on a large, long, torrid project. Have received 1 snapshot that was OK for the last 6months. Leadership is too overwhelmed to really take the time and I’m worried they’ll just “check the box” on
Any advice on best approaches to countering an offer? Have been offered an AE position but would like to counter for SAE based on my experience (3 years). Also my current agency is planning to promote me to SAE in Jan.
Does anyone know if you are travelling from US to India with an expired US visa (for renewal or first time H1 stamping) you cant go via European countries?
Does Deloitte even do a industry comparison of compensation. For a firm looking to hire more people they do a shot poor job of paying industry wages
Hi! Asking for advice bc I'm stuck in a situation right now. Background: I'm currently a probationary employee. Regularization will be decided on or after next week. So today, I got a message from an ECD of another agency. He said that they're looking for someone to fill an urgent copy position. Should I take this opportunity or push forward with the possible regularization? What should I do?
Anyone else only upvote your own agency’s content on your client’s social pages? Fuck their in-house team
