Refuse to do off record hearings and report him to the judicial oversight committee

We are set for yet another status conference next month. I’ll be asking to go on the record.

That is what worked for me

Meant legal not “LEGO” bar of course 😀 message still the same.

Make sure you state the problem on the record every time it happens. If anything dispositive occurs file an immediate appeal.

I bring a court reporter (my county does not provide any way to make a record otherwise) if it is a particularly important issue. I also ask judge to provide reasoning behind ruling and that court orders reflect those details.

Channel Kamala: "I am speaking." and keep speaking. Do not let him interrupt or if he dies, continue talking. You are socially conditioned to cede the floor out of politeness. Don't do it. Keep talking or say, " I am speaking--I have respected your time, please respect mine" And say it on the record.

Just try to sound more professional and less snarky than politicians if it’s in the court room (but perhaps that goes without saying)

On the record call out the interrupting as respectfully as you can. Along the lines of here to represent our clients and I don’t interrupt opposing counsel and I’d like to get through my argument without his interruptions. Keep asking for leave to finish when he interrupts. Make it obvious but be respectful so you are above reproach.

Ask for the hearings to be on the record. If the answer is “no,” then ask that your request to go on the record be put on the record at least. If needed, file a motion requesting the status conference be on the record due to the matters which need to be addressed and lack of agreement of the parties on how to proceed. I do like the idea of bringing a court reporter. Be careful, though, as you will likely be in front of this judge again in the future. Maybe see if there are any other attorneys in the area who had similar issues and ask how they have handled it.

Need advice for resigning while on bench. I already have a start date with the new employer. Should I do a traditional two week notice or give <=1 week notice instead? I’ve read on here that sometimes they will let you go day of and pay you out for two weeks but I don’t see why any firm would do that for somebody not currently performing billable work...
