Quick qstn - I'm receiving HRA of 24075 from my employer but I would like dhow the rent paid as 96k p.a (while filing ITR). Even if I do so, I was only able to get exemption of 24075 from gross. Checking if we can speak to payroll department to increase Actual HRA since I'm actually paying more rent than compared. Will I be able to do so ?Deloitte Newco EY Accenture Genpact KPMG

Venture capital investment syndicates have grown exponentially in the past year. They are a great way to index early-stage private investments and invest at 0% management fee alongside tier 1 institutional VC funds. Above is a link to Chaos Ventures, one of the most active syndicates on AngelList. There are several other quality syndicates as well. There is no commitment to join these syndicates. You simply sign up and invest on a deal by deal basis.

Hi, I have been approached by GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group) for network expertise paid consultation. Wanted to check with this group if anyone has any experience of how is it like working as network expert? Also how does it work wrt to your employer, do you need to discuss this with employer to get any clearance to engage with them? Also how does it work from tax perspective, do you have to set-up separate company and hence tax code? Would appreciate inputs.

I think it really depends on the development and you have to see it as a reasonably long term commitment, even if you don’t think it’s a forever home. I know several people who bought way overvalued property using the scheme and are struggling to sell now without taking a huge hit. I’m terms of costs, right now with mortgage rates vs. Rental market I don’t think it’d be any cheaper to buy than rent.
Thanks. Negative equity is of course a concern but I’d be looking to stay for the next 5+ years (if you’d consider that long term?). The monthly costs of buying might be similar to renting with increased mortgages rates but at least I’d be building SOME equity with this scheme. The less I lose to rent the better imo

Last year, we moved into our “home”; thanks to the SO scheme.
Upside: 3X the space at only 2X the rent. This includes mortgage and the rent on the % that we don’t yet own.
Lovely neighbours.
Decent area. Zone 3 but I won’t complain too much.
Much better than having to move on the outskirts or in zone 9 to be able to buy.
Downside: Not too impressed with the build quality. The same developer seems to have done a much better job on the fully-priced apartments in the development.
Hate that we still have to pay a certain % in rent and that stair casing comes with added costs but we knew this in advance.
Perhaps, not as great as the HTB 40% scheme that the government had on until recently.
Given all our cards, SO was the only way we could own something in London without living on our knees. We did have an advantage of having a huge deposit. This means, we’re not too far from owning the place a 100%.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the insight.
Interesting take on the build quality of other apartments too. Will have to keep an eye on that.
The scheme seems to get bad press (on Reddit and other forums) but from the research and numbers I’ve run it seems to be the cheapest way to live alone at a standard of living I’d be very happy with. I know it won’t be my forever home but keen to hear any thoughts and experiences.
