When I was put in a management position in my firm I joined an executive coaching organization as I had zero experience in this area. It consists of Group and individual meetings. It’s not cheap but I feel like I have taken a lot from it. I think it’s worth giving a shot. If you don’t feel you’re getting much you can always stop.
Thank you P1. I'm in a similar position as you were, and thinking of you ways to accelerate my growth. You're right, it is expensive, but I can always stop if it's not beneficial!
You can find all type of coaches and a variety of results. My advice is always to find someone that specializes in the topic you want to work on (and not someone who works on many different areas) and therefore have a system to help you. Also, find someone that you resonate with, you can feel it in the first 10 minutes. If you do not, find another one, it is not worth your time, energy and resources working with someone that you do not trust. Not every coach will help you so you need to talk with them first to see if you want to talk with them.
I have and definitely recommend it but would say do your homework before getting roped into a big commitment.
Heard from some friends it was a helpful service when making a big career transition and I’ve stayed on with my coach ever since.
I spoke with a ton of coaches and many tried to lock me into a package. For a lot of money. I wasn’t sold and found it a bit shady.
Ended up finding a great coach through a platform that does coach screening / matching and felt a way stronger fit and it’s also 500x more affordable. My monthly subscription is less than $100
This is helpful, thank you. I'm currently going through a career transition so I can relate to that part. I think interviewing more coaches and weighing up my options before committing will produce an outcome that I'll be happier with in the long run. Thanks!
