Seeing Mckinsey winning alot of COVID related work, makes me wonder which pandemic has Mckinsey had the biggest net impact on, Covid or Opiod crisis?
I’m in trading operations. I graduated during COVID and it has been my ultimate goal to become a trader. I know it’s insanely difficult to pivot from back office to trading but I would welcome any advice on making that transition.
Today marks 6 months since my dad died from Covid. Thinking about all of you who lost loved ones during this difficult time
Anyone have info about the coronavirus incubation period? Potential to infect others while not showing any symptoms? Also, is it possible to get tested if you are asymptomatic?
Thankfully my agency has been pretty understanding about Covid. But I Find it pretty inconsiderate that some agencies my friends work at are making their employees go back to an environment where most people aren’t wearing masks because it isn’t required. Anyone else experiencing this?
I need to travel to India urgently for personal reasons. I have a US citizenship and valid OCI and wondering if any issues due to COVID. Thinking of taking the flight from Newark to Mumbai to avoid exposure - does anyone know what it means once I land there (final destination Bombay). And can I come back in 2 weeks or will I have to stay longer due to quarantine?
I don’t have a tribe, but I’d like to have one. This lifestyle, pre-Covid anyway did a number on my social life. Maybe I watch too much tv but how are people finding their girlfriends? 😭 for reference I’m 26!
Since the start of the pandemic, I have been fairly safe and really haven’t gone anywhere (I think I went to TJ Maxx once in a moment of weakness lol). My family on the other hand hasn’t taken any precautions and actually did contract COVID. They keep telling me I’m paranoid and need to start going out but with COVID being worse now than it was back in March, I rather just not. I just want them off my back and wish they would respect my decision to not expose myself like I respected them.
Going to my first in-person local networking event since covid after work today. I’m worried I forgot how to be a human in public over the past 18 months. Used to be relatively good at working a room (for someone who codes) but it was a skill I worked at for years before the pandemic hit. Do y’all have any advice?
I would love to get this bowl/forum up and moving again! How is everyone in the ServiceNow space doing these days with covid ?
How is everyone with COVID-19 symptoms feeling today? I’m in week 3 and still fatigued and coughing, smell is back!
For those furloughed or not working overtime in this period: is COVID-19 helping you create a side hustle or alternate stream of income?
Folks that have recovered from covid which symptoms took the longest to wear off? I just had cough and mild fever.. I’m into week 4 but cough just doesn’t seem to go away, any advice/tips?
Want to buy property in / near NYC. I know with covid prices in the city (I’m assuming the 5 boroughs) went down, while prices outside of the city went up. Is that enough of a move in the market to make it worth it to buy in the city (and not in Long Island for example)?
This article is a good read in terms of how to handle the COVID-19 crisis: https://blog.shrm.org/blog/promoting-workplace-mental-health-in-the-age-of-covid-19
I’m done with this contrived stress. I want to run off to Buenos Aires for a few months. I want to sit in a cafe, enjoy a nice cold Quilmes and people watch. I wonder how cheap travel will be to Buenos Aires after Covid. Their economy is f’d right now
Moms, I have a 2 year old and a 3 month old. Everyone on my family is vaccinated. What are safe activities to do with these kiddos in the midst of all this covid variant environment. I thought about the pumpkin patch, hiking, the park, and walks as long as we distance from others. I just get nervous about catching colds or a breakthrough covid infection. I’m not paranoid, just risk averse. The whole family got the TSV bug a month ago, and it was miserable. Just trying to be practical, but not a
Hi! If you pivoted to online teaching last year due to Covid and are now teaching in person, please consider completing my brief survey: https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/my-drive?usp=forms_web
I wrote a rec letter for one of my legal assistants for law school right before COVID got bad and we all started working remote. Ever since then, this assistant has seemingly been slacking. There’s only so much I can actually see/review without seriously micromanaging her. I’ve spoken to her about her slacking at least twice and both times she just brushed it off. I want to withdraw my rec letter, but I feel like it’s too late. She is leaving at the end of the summer. Should I just let it be?
Got interviewed in top companies through third party recruiters and now waiting for final decision & offer from all 3. But my goal is to get full time role which is hard due to my OPT status. Advice?
In the final round of interview with a San Fran startup that’s about to go IPO... but I know I’d be also giving up lots of the structures & project flexibility & diversity offered here at big 4. What rationale would you use to make a decision?
Deloitters who have left for MBB or a big 4- did you get fired when you told your leadership? How did that work? Do you now answer “yes” when asked if you’ve ever been fired from a job?
How are people dealing with burnout? I really loved my job (M&A, NYC). Now between the pandemic, zero respect for nights/weekends, constant 200+ hour months, oh and being a new mom - I just don’t see how I can live like this. The hard parts of BigLaw have gotten harder and all my ways of recharging are gone (travel, commiserating over beers, etc.) I’m dying and no end in sight.
"Ah, a question about gender equality. I'll refer that to the only woman at this table, an aggressively smiley thin blond white lady of no discernable age, to tell you how great we're doing"
Any opinions on working at workday? I have a first interview for a role on the corporate side. Anyone have thoughts on working there or know if I’d be able to keep my workday certs up to date even though I wouldn’t be working in a consulting capacity?
Any VA programs for first time home buyers? And is now a good time to search for place or is fall better, or does it even make any difference now given what the market is nowadays. Newbie here, I’ll take any advice. I’m looking to be near the arlington metro areas. If it helps, my salary is 106k
A little embarrassing but F it! After 2 babies back to back please recommend some spandex-y or super control top panties to help with the fupa. My 2021 goal is to lose the baby weight (30 lbs) but I’m afraid the skin is so stretched out it will still be there. Tummy tuck/lipo is in the works—trust! And please don’t feed me any of those, you brought life into the world BS lines. Panty suggestions please (or solidarity to lmk I’m not alone standing in the mirror naked thinking WTF)!
Received a verbal offer from a recruiter congratulating me on clearing the final round. However did not receive a written offer or what the TC package would look like. They have started the right to work checks and the investments / pension plan declaration. Is this normal? Should I send across any documents or wait for the written offer to come through (not even sure if the terms offered would be favourable!!)? Anyone faced a similar situation / have any advice on how to proceed? Thanks!
Folks who have been naturalized -- is it really necessary to bring printed copies of tax returns or evidence of your international trips to the interview? I've read about people bring several years worth of tax returns but nowhere does it say on USCIS.
Interested to hear what happened with the promised comp increase in PwC DDV. Did they actually follow through this time?
Does anyone know if people not living/working in the US (no work visa yet and completely international background) can apply to roles within US at Google and google will sponsor them?
Looking to eventually break into FAANG PM and wondering if I need to pursue an MBA first. Non-target undergrad, but have SWE and product experience from current and previous roles. What’s the best path forward? Any advice would be hugely appreciated!
NYC, rising 4th year, V5, M&A. In July, I got the call from the partnership that I should begin to “explore other options.” I always knew when I left, whether on my terms or not, I would exit to finance. It’s been a rough transition. Been pretty discouraged and hit a low point of shame & apathy in August. Just wanted to say that I finally landed my first formal PE and IB interviews this week and am beginning to feel hopeful again! I think it’s all gonna work out.
All this stuff with Kapernick and taking a knee and all that has got me wondering if we could participate in "corporate disobedience" to protest our agencies' lack of diversity.
Deloitte moms.. I am expecting a baby! Should we first avail short term disability leaves and only then maternity leave kick in? Do we have any other options?
Got told yesterday that my promotion will probably be held up by “intangibles” that I come off as a hyper and eager in client meetings. Basically I’m female and bubbly which doesn’t work for old guys😓
