Not even Kirkland has stooped that low.

If you are a solo practitioner, you can make it by year 1

I think his ego counts for 2

I wouldn’t want to make partner that early. Wouldn’t have earned it and the title would mean nothing.

lol wtf

I’m year 8 and not sure I’m ready for that responsibility

@A2 do you work at Parsons Valentine & Hunt

Anyone here closely related to Jeff Bezos and gets all of Amazon’s M&A work?

Guy from my law school class did. Works at an estate planning shop.

Equity partner or just partner in name only like at Louis Brisboi?

Non equity partner at a boutique law firm

At my home country, every barber at a chain haircut place is a “director” lol

Only if your dad is CEO of Microsoft or Alphabet and he’s going to spin a lot of new work to your firm. In which case, you would be promoted to partner with a big pay raise, attend client dinners, be cc’d on client emails, but never allowed to do any substantive work beyond what a junior associate can handle.

My friend did, but her firm is notorious for churning through their associates like crazy.

Make friends and develop a referral relationship with doctors in your local area and sure, you can be a partner at a plaintiff personal injury firm by year 3.

Hi 🐠 fam: I’m looking for recommendations to plan a honeymoon trip to Hawaii (10-14 days). Would love to get the following:

- What 2 islands should we visit (nature lovers and active for hikes and scuba)?

- Recs on what and how we should plan for those islands?

- Anyone willing to share their planned itineraries? I can DM you, please let me know

- Recs on places to stay (have Marriot/Hilton points, but would love to try so unique Airbnb or resorts as well)?

How is cognizant softvision? Is it cognizant only or some other company? Appreciate for any inputs.

Hi all, I am wondering if there are any relationship coaching professionals in the area.

Am a single guy late 20s, objectively great on paper (good looking, active, social, high TC, people say I’m “smart” lol)

All said, I’ve never been in a long term relationship and have come to the conclusion there must be something off about me that I can’t uncover or fix on my own.

Would love to work with someone so I can one day find a long term GF!

Thanks in advance

I was listening to a podcast for one of the courses I’m taking and thought I’d share some cool stuff about building habits:

- Willpower is not as effective in making a long term change compared to building habits

- Reduce friction (eg much more likely to go to gym if it’s 5 mins away vs 10)

- Take an existing habit and add your new habit onto it

- Use chaos and stressful times to rethink practical decisions

- To break bad habits, add friction (eg phone & charger away at night)

Can anyone help suggest a solid bootcamp or beginner course for someone who’s looking to gain a better understanding of analytics? Also, trying to stay within the $5k range. My main goal is to better understand business-centric approaches and foundational concepts so that I don’t look visibly lost in conversations with the analytics team.

Happy last Friday of summer! Does your agency do Summer Fridays? Did you have time to take all of them? Why not All-Year-Round Fridays? Why not a floating weekday each week? What would you argue for?

Clearance adjudicators: When does past drug use become an automatic disqualifier? I smoked pot a handful of times in college and my early 20s, and it always a big deal for my public trust screenings. It’s been more than 7 years since I’ve partaken in such activity, and am wondering if I would qualify for a security clearance of any level. No criminal record- credit is near-perfect.

I joined fishbowl a month ago and while I’ve seen a couple contentious debates but I must say I’m pleasantly surprised at how respectfully ppl comment on this app even when disagreeing. Usually anonymity on the internet brings out the absolute worst in ppl; they type things anonymously that they would NEVER say in person smh. But I really haven’t seen horrible comments here. I wonder what makes this app diff frm others?

Office design ideas/resources? We are returning back to the office soon and I’ll be moving into a new, much bigger office (with a window!) Client confidentiality question:
I do UHNW luxury good transactions. About a year ago we represented buyer and seller on a deal. Deal fell apart because the buyer was shady and actively trying to engage in illegal acts. Buyer reached out asking us to represent them in a new purchase attempt, we declined.

They found new counsel and made an offer on the same asset. The owner doesn’t wish to engage with them. Can I give the owners reasons to the new counsel without violating duty to my old client

Other than higher pay (I didn’t become a lawyer to get rich 🤣) what is the benefit of working for BigLaw, or private practice in general? As a government lawyer, I make 6 figures, have excellent benefits, no billable hours requirements, more time off than I know what to do with (including mental health days), a pension, a 401(K), option to chose whether to WFH or not, no weekend work, no working before 8am or after 5pm. It seems like so many lawyers in private practice are unhappy.

I know that many FB regulars wish they had better mentors (or any mentors). But I suspect that many also have or had a mentor who really mattered in their lives. To those of you in that camp, please take the time to send a thank you to that person. Today (cont.)
