Forget parents. I have a classmate from engineering who decided to join a nationalized bank and is now a branch manager in his small hometown. He seems to be happy.
@VP1 why do you say small town folks are ignorant?
No regrets at all.
I am in a better world with better facilities for my family
I get better quality food, water, and air
The place I am in, the job I do, my lifestyle is a dream for many in India
No complains at all ✌️
I sometimes think about that. Indian private sector in consulting is just a hot pile of #$__&. And here the Visa woes keep us from achieving stability.
I’ve worked there. Believe me, there are better ways to waste away your talent and life
Nope, not at all! For me, enjoying life includes feeling a sense of purpose and making an impact along with all the fun stuff. If I could work in a position in Indian govt that gave me purpose and allowed to make an impact while working 9-5, I would totally do. As a daughter of a high ranking official back home, I know these roles are tough to come by in our country at this time.
If it's Central govt.. then it's awesome considering the pensions and 9-5 job . Private is more or less same as here ( but more direct on the face )
And awesome healthcare coverage
No more pensions with central government jobs if you join these days
OP you have issues.
Maybe because that's their title
valid question OP... have thought about this myself and know many people who have too.. it comes down to this - you cant ever tell if anyone is happy or not.. what I say to this is - at some point in your life do a job that is 9 -5 only. where you can take it super easy, almost akin to a central gov. job. See how that makes you feel. you owe it to yourself to atleast do that once in your life.
No, I don’t. Both parents worked in nationalized banks and have other family members who work some major banks. The bureaucracy is a nightmare. Even when I work 16 hours a day, I would say my job is better than Indian Govt sector.
It depends. I guess as I get older I’d want the security of an Indian government job
