Hi everyone! I'm in need of some advice.. I have a panel interview in a few days & I'm not sure what to do at this stage of the interview process. Up until now, I've only had initial interviews with recruiters or a 2nd round 1:1 with hiring managers & now I don't know what to expect. I've been told that they use the STAR method for answers & I'm researching that now, but a) what should I expect during this time & b) what are some questions typically asked at this stage? Partners who were highly technical in their past. Were there any skills, thought processes or behaviours you had to gain or lose to get to where you are today?

Perhaps an odd question, but I've recently moved into a technical career track. I perform well and have a great career sponsor who has asked me to think bigger about my career goals. I've noticed my social skills and way of thinking are shifting towards stereotypical Engineer. Less social, less big picture thinking.

How diverse is Portland really? Everyone talks about it like it's San Francisco in the 70's, but is it racially diverse or super white? Just wondering since my son is Black and I'd love for him to feel less alone. We're looking at moving in the summer time but are still checking things out. Real opinions please!

I have worked 6 years in the midwest and have found it nearly impossible to built mentorship and strong work relationships with senior white people (both genders) above age 45 who are US born and bred, the WASPy kind. I can never find a way to network into their "groups". Yet I've been able to build awesome relationships with senior people and mentors who are Indian, Asian, Brown and European white. Is this in my head, or have some of you experienced the same?

Partner Track was so relatable - all the micro aggressions and straight up racism/sexism.

Very unpopular opinion alert: I feel bad but I actually am glad this “racial tension” is happening right now. This whole corona thing has really revealed how ignorant all races are and we experienced attacks from all other colors. It’s clear “minorities” are not allies and as long as the other races keep fighting, it distracts attention away from us.

I felt confused when I saw Buttigieg’s name on the speaker list at DNC convention and no name of Yang anywhere. (Pointing PB out because he was mayor of South Bend, elected with very few votes). The speaker list was long.. so many people yet not a single Asian American was there. I was so confused. And some people said Asians are not in their head because Asians do not fit their box. I am glad he said something about it and got added but feel not so great he was omitted initially.. meh 🙄

Anyone else's parents constantly reminding them to be more connected to work? My parents keep reminding me to look at work-related things on weekends. Every conversation has to be related to work. I know they're just looking out for me but not being able to disconnect from work is making me more stressed. Yet my parents tend to downplay my stress because they say they've experienced more when they worked (they're retired).

Anyone here have parents with small businesses? I understand the language barrier, but my dad refuses to apply to loans / grants because it’s too much work. I am more than willing to help, but he has such a dismissive attitude and expects me to do magically do everything.

My b school apps have been going poorly even though I thought I had a banging application.

Does anyone experience this? I feel like it affects people’s perceptions of me and would like to improve my executive presence...

What are the least racist English speaking countries? Hear Canada is pretty bad despite a sizeable Asian population. Looking into moving out of the US due to gun violence and white Christian nationalism. Unfortunately, I can’t speak any Asian languages so Asia’s out of the question.
