Anyone here that’s moved from a HCOL or MCOL city to a LCOL city? In the process of doing that now and can work remotely making the higher base of the bigger city. Seems like it will have a lot of positives. Anyone run into challenges? I could see future salary negotiations in the LCOL city being more difficult if I were to move to a different company.

What locations are you referring to? Hopefully remote work is here to stay and you could find another remote job if you wanted to change jobs

like

Richmond, VA to Columbia, SC. Current company will let me work remote indefinitely, so that’s a nice perk. Hopefully you’re right.

Hi, I just really need a safe space to vent because I’m feeling like the most horrible person in the world. Married ~ 3 years ago and he hasn’t been able to work due to immi issues so we’ve been living on my 145k salary (for mortgage, car note, utilities, etc) and the occasional Instacart he does with my account. We also have a 1 year old that stays home with us (I work from home).

Hey! I work in tech (4YOE) and I switched to consulting (will be joining in Sep). Background for the question: I have a bonus system with my current employer that consists of 6-12% of my base depending on performance (I always got the maximum 12%).

Question: do you think I can convince my current employer to pay me a prorated bonus since I will be leaving after working 7 months this year? They already told me (informally) that they do not do this. What arguments would you use?

Hi! I’m a Senior designer (8+years XP) with also a short experience (<2years) in Product management and Team Management.
I’m in a recruitment process for a Product manager position that seems very exciting to me, but the company didn’t give me their salary budget yet. My question is: do you think I can pretend to a senior-level salary given my profile, like I’d do if the position was Product designer? Or should I think of potentially having to downgrade from my current salary?
Thank you all!

Over 20 plus years with this company my base pay has gone up every couple of years. The biggest growth in my salary has come as a "Bonus pd 1x/yr" which now is over 50% of my cash compensation. Base plus bonus plus benefits is on the Lower half of my industry Salary Value from talking to industry colleagues.

I may have an opportunity for a new position with another company starting around the first of the new year. My concern is that the "bonus" is not paid until March. What to do?

How much should I expect as a salary for a Sr Associate Advisory at a big 4 (in US) in consulting?

I am a newly promoted supervisor who has been with my company for 3 years. The promotion came with a salary increase & I was happy about that.

However, since in my new role I have come to discover that people I am now overseeing have a higher pay rate than I do. Some have been with the company longer than I have, some have not.

Maybe it was my bad for not asking for not negotiating my pay raise, but I am wondering what you would do in this situation?
