Anyone here transition from audit to IT strategy or m&a type consulting? I have over 7 years of experience but I’ve been told that MBA is the only way out. I’m confident my skills would be applicable in other fields too but interested in heating your thoughts.

You might try going to the FAAS group as an intermediate step. The people I know who've gone from the assurance service line to consulting or SAT have typically come from that practice. I'd imagine you probably have some great technical skills that relate to audit, but you'll really have to start from the ground up as far as learning how to support the offerings and managing engagements in consulting. Would say that even the internal audit folks have a hard time switching to typical consulting, so it's definitely a very big mindset shift.

Yeah I fully agree with you. I don’t know if moving to a boutique firm is a better idea because crossing the red tapes within EY has been a pain in the ass. I’ve made some really good contacts but my promotion (just made SM) has pretty much sealed the door for me ☹️

Hi all! For an experienced hire as a Human Capital Consultant at Deloitte, what should I expect the salary/sign-on bonus to be at a MCOL city? I have approx. 3.5 YOE (non-consulting), MBA and MS degree (non target school) and also SHRM certified (which is probably irrelevant for the role but thought I’d share anyways). Already did my research but the range is kind of all over the place for experienced hires so just want to have a ballpark. Thanks!

1yr of work experience at MBB -- prior experience was in non-profit / community development. What exits could allow me to stay in the private sector that aren't consulting? I think exiting to Tech or a bank is unlikely with no prior experience; I want to eventually return to non profit work, but still want to spend the next few years in the private sector (tbh, just for the experience and so my MBA didn't go to waste). Any ideas?

B) Will CISSP or relevant cyber certifications help?

Planning on having kids and because we'll work from home a lot still need office space. I grew up in burbs and it wasn't so bad because I lived walking distance to train station into the city & nice downtown. 800k!
