Hi fishes! I feel so frustrated with kgs! There is no quality work, on-shore managers are really rude and they talk like we are bloody slaves to them. (And they are not Indians), they get pissed off if asked to attend calls in their morning time and expect us to work late nights. Could have still felt better if the work was good, but feels as if I am doing a first year clg students work. I just want to leave this place. But the news of layoffs in the market is making me scared.KGS

Anyone work in BDO tax? How is it?
You should also think about your long terms goals. Partner/MD life is very different too. In my experience, m&a partners have much more stressful lives. Lots of volatility, lots of pressure to sell in down markets, PE clients expect you on call 24/7 and then some, and a high level of involvement in engagements (and technical knowledge). I’ve seen more compliance partners that develop a strong network and rely on the annuity work for the bulk of their book of business. Yes, they still have to sell new work, but I think it’s less pressure and they are less involved in the weeds of delivering the returns.
I’m sure it depends on the person and practice, but I think it is generally true.
If partner is not the goal, then just think about what kind of exit you want to make. Lots and lots of compliance industry positions.
Pros are the money and more interesting work ; cons are being on call 24/7 and having lull times and super busy times and it’s completely unknown. What type of fed compliance?
Yeah, some people really dislike the unpredictability when it comes to work hours. I think that’s really the only reason I say 24/7 because you don’t really know when those late nights will be required, but you generally have a decent sense ahead of time.
I transferred as a senior. You should try it if you get the opportunity. Can always go back to compliance if you don’t like it. Agree with everything already said. No busy season and the only consistency is inconsistency with work. Be good about not taking your computer on PTO and tell your team as such.
