Anyone here who has recently completed CPA?

Is there really that big of difference in recruiting between USC and UCLA MBA? I checked MBB target schools and only one recruits at USC whereas all 3 recruit from UCLA. I would have thought it would have been about the same. Thoughts from MBB/B4/Tier 2 consulting?

Can we talk designations a minute? I'm at the agency level now and would like to move to a company underwriter. If I'm going to add some designations to my portfolio, which would be the best? I don't think jumping right into CPCU is the right way to go. I can earn my CIC and then pursue a CRM or CPRM. I don't think I want to do the CISR since that won't do much for me if/when I move to underwriter. Is there something else I should consider? Do designations matter at the company level?

What the promotion criteria in MSFT

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

Recently graduated college with a bachelor in mechanical engineering and landed a job as an estimator making 30k but I’ve been looking for a new job in the engineering field. And I see that entry level jobs require 4-5 experience with multiple certifications which is very discouraging. What skills/certifications/other requirements I can learn to stand out to jobs that require so much just for entry level.

Thinking about exiting tech consulting to work as a contractor and build my own consulting firm. Has anyone tried this? What were major roadblocks?

My dad used to run tech consulting firm in India, so I’m familiar with how things work, and I also have the connections (and infrastructure) there to start an office without too many problems. However, I don’t know where to find clients. Would I just respond to smaller RFPs (in the $50-250K range) and go from there?

Tranferred to another team third time during 7 months stint. The new team is not happy and are giving me namesake training and has said if not performed starting next month, I will be out. I have my wedding next week and they are giving me exercises during weekends also. In my old team I opted for transfer to new location but the new manager said they will not allow it as no one is there to check me. Have lost all motivation to work with everyday criticism and rants. What should I do?
