I realize it’s not the same, but if you’re just thinking PNW, I’m in Portland with two little kids and think it’s fantastic. I live in a house with a small yard but am only 4 miles (10 min car, 30 min bus or bike) from my office downtown. So much to do with kids and generally good public schools. And tons of Midwest transplants here!
Same here - live in Portland, love it. Cost of living is rising but still affordable, great food and restaurant scene, very friendly and professional bar. Homeless population is out of control right now, and property crime seems a bit higher than usual, but I assume this stuff will normalize once covid goes away.
My family and I relocated to Washington state mid-July. We are in Bremerton, which is about an hour and a half from Seattle. It's more expensive than the Midwest (we used to live in Ohio for a few years) but is significantly cheaper than Southern California where we relocated from. Life with young kids is good here, it's a lot more family friendly than the area in SoCal in which we were living, but haven't had really been able to experience everything the state has to offer due to closures because of Covid. Hoping next year bodes different for us. Good luck with your move!
We live in Seattle with a little guy and love it. Grew up in Pennsylvania but am happy to be out west. Better outdoor adventures, greater tolerance, but definitely more expensive. PM me if you’d like to chat.
I used to live in SW WA, near Portland OR and it was a famtastic place to live! I live across the river in OR now, but still work in WA. Pocket areas are highly affluent and others are lower SES. Its a mix all over SW.
Mercer Island and Bellevue are great for schools, when kids are actually in school, with a good commute. Traffic here pre Covid is horrendous. So it really depends where you are working. If not Seattle are, Vancouver and Spokane are nice

It’s so expensive in the greater Seattle area. Absurdly so.
Wenatchee is cute. Bellingham. Olympia.

In Sammamish with two kids, couldn’t be more pleased.

I grew up in Issaquah/Bellevue area and it was wonderful. It's true things are getting pricier, but it's really a lovely place to raise a family
Thanks everyone. I wouldn't mind driving 30-45min. For reference, I'll be working at Seattle office while hubby will be at Lakewood area.
Look south, Nomandy Park or even parts of Tacoma are up and coming
