Have two offers - Product Manager McKinsey & Company and Senior Product Manager - tech Amazon. Having a hard time figuring out which to choose and which one to let go. Money definitely more at Amazon (50% more than McKinsey), but keep hearing awful things about Amazon’s work culture / long working hours. Also, McKinsey’s offer is in their technology & digital department (non consulting) so WLB would be definitely better it seems. Worth slogging for 3 years or so at Amazon and skip McKinsey?
This started out as a teacher shortage BS post with my typical “there’s no such thing as a teacher shortage…” rant, upon reading the article, I uncovered something far more insidious.

“James Fedderman, president of the state’s largest teacher’s union… also blamed intensifying culture wars around LGBTQ issues and so-called critical race theory — including an email tipline set up by Gov. Glenn Youngkin as a way for parents to report on “inherently divisive practices” in schools.”
WTF?

I've heard pretty good things about them. They apparently have a good culture and good WLB. There's a bit of bureaucracy and upper management to deal with, but honestly I prefer those tradeoffs.
IT directors there usually make between $170k-$180k, not sure about in NJ though. Bureaucracy as someone else mentioned is an issue, but somewhat expected imo. Lot of old-school. traditional thinking over there.
Thanks you both. Appreciate your feedback.
I have a friend that works there! He said the wlb is great and he loves his team. Like E1 said above there can be politics but that feels like any place nowadays. Good luck!
Thanks Md1 - insurance companies titles are bit different for sure!
Current employee. The above posts are true. It’s a great place to work but can be annoying with the levels of management. But the salary and work life is hard to beat. Let me know if I can help you in any way or share a referral.
