It’s really not that bad and, when I worked there, I never stayed past 5:30. There are more irritating things than clocking in by 8:29
I get to my shitty job by 8:30 at the latest most days just so I can leave before 7 to finish the rest of my work at home...
When I was there, we had to be in at 8:30, and there was a mandatory 8:00am creative department status meeting. But that being said, there was a good culture and you felt like you were part of something significant. That and we had several happy hours a week at local dive bars. Good memories.

AD2 - the money isn’t necessarily taken away from you because it’s deducted from your end of year bonus (aka free money) BUT you get that after you’ve been there for 1-year.
