Same - but trying to establish a new network seems daunting/risky
Yes. Just fell into it and haven’t left. 4 years so far
Healthcare in the short term has consistently felt super underwhelming. On the flip side, healthcare in the longterm has felt very rewarding.
10 years here.
Underwhelming how? You’re dealing with the most complex industry with real (patient lives) at stake- even if indirect. Slow moving? Yes. Would I rather be working here than analyzing market potential of a new downey product? Yes
I have been in healthcare for 10 years. I would like to try something else, but don’t know how to make the transition to any other industry. I like to think I can do any type of process improvement, but how do you get people to take you seriously? I’ll be over qualified to start over as an intern. Appreciate any tips
Same here - 9/10 years also. Seems to be a bit of common thread. I think those of us who started then saw ACA/HITECH come to life, anticipating and expecting drastic changes, but politicians are still trying to repeal the ACA, and even with all the new technology, healthcare is still struggling with a lot of what feels like old problems.
Life’s too short to do boring work. Switch! You have a lot of transferrable skills.
You guys waited too long to discover you’re stuck. Good news is you have likely gained skills easily useful in any industry. Innovation, Finance, Operational Improvement etc
What industry are you looking into?
I’m literally heading to bschool to make the same switch! E-commerce especially is really interesting to me (the intertwine of retail and tech)
