Should there be laws around “emotional scamming”?

In cases where no clear crime has been committed (ie financial scam) but there has been significant emotional impact on victims. Been listening to a lot of astonishing podcasts on the subject (Hollywood Con Queen, Sweet Bobby, Sympathy Pains). There may be a level of financial fraud is involved, but it often pales in comparison to the level of sophistication in manipulating the victims for emotional gains.

Curious what others think.

While I was on mat leave last year, we hired a contractor to be me and he’s still with us even though I’m back. I recently started approving his hours and just found out he’s getting paid $65/hr grossly, while I make $35/hr. Is this normal for contractor to make more than FTE?? I’m a little upset right now considering he’s doing like college entry level tasks and I’m over here doing a lot more.

Hello, is it unethical to accept a job offer (start date is next year July, right after I graduate) but still look for jobs? I won’t be actively looking, but there’s one company that’ll open recruitment in the spring semester and I really really want to apply and pursue that position. Please help, any advice or drop your personal experiences🫡

A company just reduced their offer after initial verbal offer was 'rejected' by comp team. Reasons were that it was higher than others at that level currently in the position. And that "This is the best they can do".

Thoughts on how to best counter this? This is a lowball.

I was contacted today by our President saying the company is looking to “backfill” with current employees who have buying experience for the next 1-2 quarters. As I have said experience, he wondered if I’d be “willing to entertain” being one of those people. He mentioned extra money (no specific amount) and asked me to mull it over this weekend. How do I navigate this professionally, make sure to protect my time & work in my current role, and negotiate proper comp if I decide to accept? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Curious what Salaries are for Account Managers with 6 YOE and two different territories for the last four of those 6 years. No commission/bonuses ever given and no promotions since I took the position 6 years ago despite speaking up several times. COL raises at 1.5% and I now make 70k but at the top of my pay range. I’m starting to look for other jobs now because I’m fed up with having two territories without a raise for the extra work. I feel I should have been promoted to Senior AM long ago.

Hi ,
I'm a Marketing student and was recently offered part time internship positiom on the marketing team of really cool FinTech Venture Capital company .During the final interview , I luckily asked for their pay range for interns and almost fell to the ground when he said $30/hr min. I would have said $18/$20 if I hadn't asked him instead .The average student earns between $15-$20 ...so it sounds really good but that's only an opening offer. Should I ask for a higher amount like $35 -$40?
