Agree with your thoughts OP. I haven't worked directly with or for them but thought Jason Averbook's keynote at HR tech was great, provacative enough and also action oriented. I join their weekly Friday meetups which are a great oppty to discuss a variety of topics and their is a lot of active engagement and participation from the group.
Have you seen attendance to those Friday weekly from their clients or just other independent practitioners/consultants? Wonder how their messaging plays to decision makers vs to worker bees wanting their organization to do things differently.
Never heard of it
About 4 years ago, I was exploring my options, saw that someone I knew from a past job works there, got an interview, and don’t recall details except that I didn’t make it past round 1. I have 10+ years consulting and industry HR experience (each!), but maybe they were looking for a different skill set. Personally, as a POC on the West Coast, I was a tiny bit concerned about the lack of diversity, but it was <100 people and based on their geo location (I’m forgetting where now - Midwest?), I get that such a scenario is not uncommon. At the time, I was exploring getting back into HR consulting, but ultimately I happily stayed in tech adoption, specializing in collaboration tools.
As a general observation, HR budgets are often tight. On the other hand, budgets for cloud collaboration are controlled by IT. Makes a huge difference in selling work, getting extended, etc.
