I'm thrilled that recruiters have reached out to me for a role I love at almost double comp. I can do/do/have done every responsibility for the role, but one part of the description gives me pause--it requires 10yrs experience in this space. I have 5.5 directly applicable and another 6 that's applicable but not often considered (I had a unique military job). And, this particular leadership role has not been common in corporate America before a couple years ago. (Cont.)
Due to Covid & a new VP, everything is changing at my company & senior reps are being micromanaged like new hires. Seniors are quitting and being fired like nothing I’ve ever seen. Anyone else?
I got laid off today. My client is an automotive account and they slashed more than 50% of their budget due to the state of the world. For those who have been laid off due to this pandemic....
My friend is looking to pivot out of tech and into a more business-y role. Does anyone know of high-quality career coaches that could advise on the landscape of business roles (eg consulting, finance, biz dev, biz ops)?
I am interviewing for a product manager role and asked to submit a 2-pages proposal regarding the idea that i proposed. Is there a specific template that i need to follow, if anybody knows?
How are those who got laid off doing job search wise? Feeling a little bit discouraged at the moment :(
Gen Zs on team: LOL flights are so cheap right now! Me: LOL hope you saved enough for the inevitable layoffs.
Always present your own ideas. Otherwise, you can get fired and they’ll keep your writer thinking that he came up with your concepts.
Got an offer to work in an exciting role (same title) with 35% increase in pay. However, a little iffy on the company culture (has a not great rep) so not sold on all aspects. I have an opportunity to stay at my current company and lateral to a more exciting role, however it does not come with a pay boost. Should I try negotiating my salary? I’d likely be negotiating with someone high up in the org, not my current manager as I’d be moving teams, and am worried about seeming disloyal, etc.
Anybody else think next year is going to be worse for layoffs than this year? A lot of clients are setting up their 2021 budgets and allocating very little for capital projects. Seems like next year will be extremely light since customers aren’t spending as much. Hence more layoffs in consulting.
Has anyone done (or know someone who has done) a consulting -> policy think tank exit? Would love to chat
With everything going on and a recent layoff, I’ve really been reevaluating my life. Is it dumb to leave all $ and perks behind for more fulfillment and passion. I’m looking for a new job but... cont.
My GF is interviewing for a role she’s really excited about. She met with the hiring manager yesterday, and said she felt it went pretty well (the hiring manager told her after the interview that he has 4 other folks to interview and then he’ll get back to her). She sent an update/thank you note to the executive recruiter this morning and got this reply. Does the note portend good or bad news? She’s worked up like crazy.
We hiring that girl from a law firm as a Manager in forensic with no experience (and no CPA or CFE). How do you think I should react? I am 2Y SC on my way to Manager this year
Double dipping on severance and paycheck from new job. Can former companies even find out that you have a new job if you keep quiet?
Just applied to a CEO role on Indeed for a shitty tech recruitment company... My cover letter said "F500 in 3 years or your money back"
Female 🐠 and male 🐠, if you could quit work and be a stay at home parent, would you do it? And why / why not?
First time going to my daughters friends bday party. 4 year old kid. What’s an appropriate range to buy a gift?
Waking up for a 6 am flight and realizing you managed to lose your earbuds between now and when you left the office 6 hours ago. Smh
Anyone surprised that Lori is lifting the covid restrictions? There were strict numbers to reach before we were supposed to enter phase 5. And we definitely have not reached those. It's now cold and flu season and I feel like everyone is coughing around me. I wasn't a fan of the lockdown to begin with, but I'm just wondering what the big change is now? Seems like it's coming out of the blue and has nothing to do with the guidelines put out initially
Which social media platforms are driving engagement during COVID-19? For me, it’s Tik Tok, and how people (and celebs) have surged to the platform for normalcy, entertainment, and connection.
I am a CFP(tm) and a 20 year veteran looking to educate and acquire businesses from owners in GA (or the southeast) who want to sell or are looking to get educated on the succession planning process.
Has anyone purchased AirPods with the home equipment expense? I use them all the time and mine are starting to lose battery life but not sure if my firm will qualify them.
Struggling and need advice!I’ve great feedback from leadership about my work & was recently promoted as well but if I make a tiny mistake, it could be something small I missed out or think I didn’t answer the question completely, I can’t forgive myself. I’ve always been my worst critic but lately small things at work are taking a toll on me. I don’t know how to fix it. These aren’t major mistakes & no one from client or leadership has said anything to me, they love my work but (contd.)
In Houston Hobby...I get to spend 5 hours getting to know this airport and will only make half day with my client in sunny San Jose.
I would only do an MBA if it’s fully sponsored, that being said has anyone had luck with any of the minority sponsorship programs?
How much should I be contributing to my 401k? This is my first adult job and I was thinking 10% of each paycheck but I’m worried this isn’t enough. Any advice is appreciated!
The saddest feeling is when you drunkenly buy a nice bottle of wine on Wednesday night and have to leave it in the hotel room unopened Thursday morning :(
Hi Fishes. Have 2 questions... 1. What is a realistic expectation for comp for Finance Manager at Amazon? Base/Bonus/Stocks? 2. 8 YOE in Corporate Finance and 2 in Consulting.... is this too junior/low of an exit to industry? - Currently getting hits from recruiters for contacts Finance manager, but was seeking something more senior....
Gave up my upgrade so I could fly standby on an earlier flight. Sitting in the middle seat, last row. I get to hold my kids to sleep tonight! YES!
I have money in my traditional IRA and have been contributing to my 401k with post tax contributions. Every so often I move money from my 401k to my Roth IRA since I can’t directly contribute to it. Assuming I had no gains on the after tax 401k contributions, will I be taxed on part of the money since I have money in my traditional IRA? I keep reading that you shouldn’t have a traditional IRA open when you do the backdoor roth. Not sure if it’s related to the pro data rule.
With this girl in her room. Traveling project and met her on the road... It's 4 in the morning... And she's hugging...I have a status meeting @ 8. This face needs to shower and change. Excuse options?
