Should I bother waiting for promo to start applying if I’m looking to stay in consulting short term or would I come in at ~entry level regardless? 2 YOE at ACN Strat, expecting promo to C in Nov. Generally like the work, but feel I could make more while working same or similar hours. Current base 100k, ~6% bonus, expecting that to go to ~130k (?) with ~6% bonus after promo.
How did you get an interview at MBB? Referral or online application? Or maybe contacting the recruiter on LinkedIn? I’m with 2YOE in healthcare/analytics consulting. Recently looking to move forward to MBB. Appreciate any suggestion!
Is there anyone else out there who keeps getting ghosted by agencies after interviewing for jobs? I've been applying to jobs for months. I've constantly been changing my approach and techniques. Yet I keep getting ghosted by agencies - sometimes even after I reach out asking for an update. I guess I just gotta assume that my acceptance email got lost and move on. 😂
So with all the chat on here about how easy it is to get hired, are you as a hiring manager putting more emphasis into screening and challenging interviewees than before as a response? I ask because I successfully went through an interview process and have no idea how a candidate who wasn’t well versed in the cases, practice, and even consulting exp would be able to pass.
I have an interview scheduled for this Friday but I’m feeling very unprepared. I need more time to think through my professional experiences and how that translates to the role in question. How does it look if I move the interview to next Friday? Would that raise eyebrows?
I’ve never quit anything in my life. But I hate my job and see no way out and no future. I work 80 hours a week and don’t even have time to interview, and am out of pto. Anyone btdt?
Has anyone recently been through the AWS Associate/Cloud Consulting interview process and are willing to share their experience? Thanks
Just had the worst interview of my life… i don’t know if it’s because it’s my time if the month, but I was overcome with nerves… and now all i feel like doing is punching a wall. I know I could be positive and maybe I’m being hard on myself due to Mother Nature but…
What do you'll tell a recruiter when asked if you're interviewing with other companies? If you're interviewing with a competitor but nowhere close to the final round, is it worth mentioning?
In your experience, how many days/weeks/months did it take from final interview to offer?
So I am going to try and jump ship from PWC before the sale, should I start dressing in suits now so days I interview look less werid or just call out sick each day I have an interview?
Interviewing w/ IBM Watson Health... Anyone have feedback on the firm / direction? Curious about brand new CEO...firm has acquired a lot in healthcare recently, but also had major layoffs last year
Sometimes I think LinkedIn is a job killer . I have diverse backgrounds in various parts of tech, strategy, M&A etc and applying to multiple job roles . I get tons of interviews and getting rejected after final rounds . Any thoughts on how to keep LinkedIn very generic ? Keeping generic means I won’t get many messages on LinkedIn from recruiters. 😂😂
I’m interviewing for two jobs. Have an offer at Wells Fargo who is waiting for me to decide. Had a two great interviews at EY which sounds promising- and think I would prefer that role. But no offer yet. Do I tell the recruiter? I don’t want to miss the Wells offer if nothing comes thru for ey.
I have given interview with Deloitte and had a positive feedback in all 3 rounds. When can I expect feedback or call from them. It been 4 business day since I gave the interview. FYI I have given interview for technical specialist role.
I guess it's been almost 3 weeks since I had my system design interview with Amazon but still have not received any feedback - in spite of following up with recruiter. Most of the times - an excuse for delay but no clue if or when I'll get any update related to the result. To be honest - this is kinda making me feel - "hanging off the cliff". 😶 Anyone would like to share any thoughts/opinions ?
Have the final interview with the CTO of a 1000 people tech unicorn for a senior technical program manager role. Any tips on what kind of questions I can expect from a CTO.
Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.
Interviewed for a role at google and my phone interview went okay but not great. The recruiter wants to connect over a call - does google make the effort to call you in person to reject you?🙄
Using free rental coupons from National for a long weekend with my wife in Savannah/Hilton Head in a couple weeks -- what type of car should I reserve? Thinking convertible, but maybe premium car...
I have left Deloitte after accepting another offer ( waiting to start the new role and taking time off between) . Now another dream role reached out to me for an interview. Should I tell them I am no longer with Deloitte if the HR asks? They had my old resume. Has anyone been though this situation? My main dilemma is I don’t know what to say why I left the job since the main reason was the new offer.
Anyone here who made the exit from Big 4/MBB consulting to a VC? If so, I’d love to hear about how the experience is so far. (Not to mention the WLB and comp!) I’m considering a career change but have no one in my network I can go to for insights. Thx! 🙏🏾
With the long-weekend, lets do a book thread. Give me your favorite sales book - here's mine - How To Win Friends and Influence People
Just got the "went with another candidate" email for a PE gig was into. Folks I met at the firm seemed great - worth trying to establish a relationship as I head to MBA? How?
I heard that the US immigration has started doing i-130 for eb1c under premium processing. Does anyone know if this is true?
Posting for my cousin - Deloitte 🐠 can anyone share their timeline from offer to h1b transfer? She is looking to take 2 weeks between job but not sure if it’s an issue. TIA!
Was extended but haven’t done any work this week so far. Haven’t been briefed on the new project. Still billing this week, right? Think they do weekly here, not sure tho.
Anybody been offered a promotion with no corresponding pay rise? I assumed that was impossible but am worried that may be what's on offer. Surely not??!
Stress of interviews is getting to me How do people manage? I have 1 every single day and I am doing a lot of preparing
Planning to quit. How do I get all the immigration documentation from Deloitte lawyers. I guess I can download from the website bug how do I get out of my Deloitte laptop?
How do you deal with a teammate that creates unnecessary work for themselves and others and then acts passive aggressive towards the team? Example - MD has already reviewed and signed off on the document and their feedback was incorporated. Teammate then takes 3 hours to change a ton of the content before sending to client.
I recently received a raise, that was given across the agency and non-performance based. I believe I’m under paid significantly based on actual performance and my role and contribution to the team. Any advice on how to ask for a raise, or if I should at all?
How are the PWC HR (SDC Kolkata) in terms for salary negotiations do they generally get back with enhanced offers or is it otherwise
Asking this question here for a reason. In our culture and set up, a majority of the time is spent in cooking. We usually don’t eat microwave meals. I want to understand how Indian families cope up with all the traveling associates with consulting. Does the mother or father usually stay at home or be in a “light” job?
Finance undergrad + MBA. No tech background. Pure business consulting experience. Looking to do a Masters of Data Science to make the pivot (may or may not stay in consulting). Thoughts?
We're expecting our second in April and know we want to find a nanny sometime between now and June. Mom's with 2, when would you recommend bringing a nanny on board? Before the new baby comes or towards the end of my maternity leave? Our older daughter will be just shy of 2 when the new baby comes, so she's still a handful. Right now her grandparents cover about 75% of care during work hours and my husband and I make the rest work between the 2 of us.
