I have an offer to start at a new firm 3rd week of January and am trying to figure out timing on when to give a two week notice. For context I’m in consulting and our current projects are wrapping up by year end/we don’t get a busy season surge. I have two weeks of PTO to end the calendar year scheduled, and am afraid if I say anything before the break they’ll cut me off before my time off. Is giving notice first thing next year the best idea given my constraints?
My AmLaw 100 firm just launched an affinity group for attorneys with disabilities. I have a disability that is not visible and for which I have never requested an accommodation. I’d like to have the opportunity to be in a space with other attorneys who may have similar struggles as me, but I am nervous about “outing” myself. Has anyone had a beneficial experience with affinity groups and do you think the benefits of joining outweigh the risks?
Dear Drogo5 peeps. How long did it take to produce the facebook covid work? Start to finish. And what was the budget?
So I am in a unique situation from a supply chain standpoint. Client has a Make to Order product, with a backlog up to next year so in theory life should be easy. Except the current Supply Chain environment means the amount of past dues are racking up and the production schedule keeps falling wildly behind and catching up because impossible because the schedule is packed at capacity. I have some ideas to help them, but I would love to find some good reading on MTO best practices and scheduling.
What was your utilization like after taking parental leave? About to take a couple months and I’m curious how much it will impact my year end utilization % (not that this will impact how long I take off).EY
I have a negative Nancy aide in our classroom. Regardless of how many times she has been spoken to and reminded to keep the negative at bay, it seems to appear daily. Suggestions to help it totally disappear?
Any firms with good parental leave policies? Or are most through short-term disability or only partial pay?
Lately I’ve been trying to quit consulting and take up a less intense job for the period while my kids are very young so I don’t miss out on their early years. For now I’ve been applying to back office roles at banks to the extent where I can figure out that they are relaxed and not too intense. But I have a hard time converting any of my applications to such roles. I think my resume doesn’t make it past hr. And I have a hard time locating the hiring manager. Any tips?
Has anyone ever taken a primary residence loan against their 401k? Pros/cons? Most of my savings are tied to 401k at this point due to paying off student loans. Wondering if it is worth (cont.)

Based out of Atlanta and diamond on Delta (360 this year but unlikely to be next year) and super pissed with the low conversion rates. What other program would you suggest? (Or am I stuck with Delta)
Amazon seems to be hiring for a lot of accounting positions in the DMV area for their HQ2. Anyone have any opinions on the exit-ops, W/L balance, comparisons to B4/busy seasons, compensations etc.? Audit M1 here.
Wife is about to start with the feds. Should I drop my healthcare and go on hers? Always heard federal employees have amazing and cheap coverage. Help!
What’s the upper limit you can ask for when applying for a mid-level CW job? Can you get $90k-$95k or is that more Sr?
experienced consultants who moved to MBB: do you find the work/projects more interesting?
I found out today that my employer doesn’t offer any paid parental leave (maternity or paternity). This isn’t a major issue now, but my wife and I are planning on trying in a year or so from now. How many other employers don’t offer any paid leave at all? Coming from public accounting this seemed outrageous to me, but curious to see what other companies are like.
