How some people are clearing interview and then getting into a project even though they don't have any skills, no desire to learn new things, can't perform a very very simple task even though it's already documented clearly, totally burden on team members. They don't even try to do basic troubleshooting when they faced simple issues, rather asks stupid question to junior who is having only 1 years of experience and ask for solution.

Wondering perhaps how other senior leaders manage to control perceptions and timelines with business folks who think things should always be done tomorrow? I’m tired of unreasonable deadlines and my team “failing” because the deadlines we got tied to were not even set by us, the ones building the apps.

For those of you who got into FAANG or other tech company as a dev (swe, DS, DevOps, etc...) How did you word/express your resume to show that you worked on an internal product/platform?

I feel like there's a lot of client facing dev roles or dev roles that rotate a lot of projects. I think real tech companies have a bias towards devs from consulting companies due to this... But I've personally been working on a long term platform at Deloitte.

How do I get a job as a software architect?

When I talk to recruiters, they keep telling me stuff like "mostly companies like to promote from within for architects". Is this actually true, or are they just lying to me because they don't have reqs for architects?

If I graduated from undergrad 9 years ago and have been working all that time, and have an MBA (pursued while working) what kind of TC and level should I be at? I'm an L5, and 30 years old. TC is $175k. I feel like i'm behind and I'm starting to panic.

When looking for Associate Program Management roles, all the searches come up as Business Analyst. I’m a systems engineer with 3 YOE so would moving to a business analyst be a step in the wrong direction? I feel like I don’t have enough YOE for a program manager role.

How do folks feel about the idea to have real feedback from their reporting chain at current company/previous companies. Feedback that would at some level allow focus points on things a person is great at as well as improvements for career progression. Maybe at some point even help with hiring! Do other tech parents keep their kids away from social media? My daughter is 12 and I'm apparently the 'worst mom ever' because she can't have social media and I turn off the wifi at night.

I have an extremely difficult colleague that I cannot work with. He answers my questions with completely tangential information and i have to repeat questions multiple times before he answers them, easily the poorest communicator I have ever worked with.

The week he took as PTO was the best week of my career at Amazon and I was far more productive.

I don't think I can continue working here if I am working with him on a daily basis, but I don't want to be seen as a poor team player. Any advice?

I've been a programmer in the games industry since leaving education a few years ago, and am consider moving over to tech industry instead. Has anyone made a similar move? If so, how easy was it, did it set you back much career wise?

PS: A big chunk of my time is spent reviewing code for 12 offshore resources and helping them resolve issues where they’re stuck.
