Anyone in the industry that can offer some advice/insight: Recently graduated with a BA in General Design this past Spring ‘21. And currently finishing a certificate in UX. I’ve having a hard time landing an internship/entry level position (haven’t gotten an interview). I don’t have a strong network due to COVID hitting during my jr/snr of undergrad. I want to break into my industry and leave my coffee shop management job of 4 years. I have my portfolio set up and my resume. Any advice/insight?

Is it unreasonable to ask someone from PT timezone to follow ET hours for 1 month during critical phase of the project? To be specific.. starting 9AM ET. Work day typically gets over at 6p ET or sooner sometimes, and this person makes it such a big deal and makes it sound like they are doing team a favor.

Just got a huge offer from a start up! 300k base. I heard RECESSION starts in July 2022, does it make sense to keep my 150 K job at Accenture and reject the offer? Don’t want to risk getting fired from start up. Please share some advice. I heard it on the news today, Nasdaq is at a 14 year low

If you were allowed to remote work from anywhere right now where would you move in the US?

I am noticing that McKinsey is increasingly recruiting at non-elite schools (very roughly speaking not top 15 schools). At my old undergrad, 5 years ago the most competitive firm to show up was EY. This year McKinsey took 4 non-internship full hires. Why is McKinsey going “down market” for recruiting? Are elite school kids losing interest in consulting so McK has to cast a wider net? Or is McK seeking a wider pool for other reasons? I advise undergrads on consulting so want to be best informed.

Is it ok to get personal in salary negotiations? For example, let the recruiter know that I’m a single parent supporting three young kids and two retired parents and I really need more money.

Why don’t more people put 20% down on a property and rent it out so the other 80% is paid for by someone else while they active equity? Is there something I’m missing?

Ever bombed an interview so badly that you agreed at the end of the call you aren't a good fit?

My nephew just told me he just got rejected/waitlisted by all the ivy leagues despite perfect test scores, APs and ECs. His college counselor told his parents it’s because he’s Asian. That’s ridiculous right? College admission don’t actually penalize because of race - just helps if one is URM? If not, how is this legal?

This may be a hot take - but as a younger person, working with parents of small kids (especially new parents) is so frustrating. I frequently find myself responsible for picking up the slack due to their family commitments - it’s also somehow completely socially acceptable for kids to barge into zoom meetings screaming. I wouldn’t find it nearly as bothersome if I felt like leadership and parent colleagues took my issues and non work commitments seriously in addition to that of parents and kids
