Just joined a new consulting firm (after being laid off from the last one due to “poor performance”), and I’m being staffed conditionally on my first project. Manager has so far has given me pretty light / easy PMO work and asked me to make a few slides here and there, but generally it’s work below the level I was hired for. I’m in the post-MBA role, so want to make sure I’m meeting those expectations early on. Any advice on how to go about this and get more responsibility?

Anyone regret going into data and analytics? Sometimes I feel like I'm too dumb for it. I don't have a statistics background to really take things to the next level, and my colleagues don't have the hours to help me. My technical skills are OK, but nothing to shout at, especially when I don't really have the interest to learn. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and steer my career to a boring client-side position instead.

Just started a new job as an LMHC 7 weeks ago. It’s fee for service. Was told during the interview I’d have a full caseload always and have more stable clients. However, I’ve been getting at least 1 no show/cancel per day and found out that I don’t get paid for it unless the client pays. Now with these no show / late cancels, I have less clients and no new intakes are being put in my schedule even though I’ve alerted the intake dept several times. Is it bad I want to leave already?

Wife is at one of the Big4 stuck on a PM role. She loves the firm, hates the client. How do I convince her to jump ship to another firm and go into Tech? She is too loyal and not confident she will succeed in the tech space. Is it difficult with minimal background? Advice, please!

What are some small and smart creative agencies in NYC?

Retrieval process for IVF. How many eggs did you retrieve? How many retrieval’s have you gone through? I’m going on birth control pills for a few days then injections with a possible retrieval near 3/24. Any advice for someone just starting the process? I’m hopeful to get 18-20 eggs and at the end at 5-7 good quality embryos to transfer/freeze. What has your experience been? Am I aiming high? I’m unexplained secondary infertility if that helps.

Most of my cases don't ever even reach litgation. However, I just settled my first case that I truly thought was going to trial. The feeling is odd. A mix between satisfaction and disappointed. We won but it was still odd.

How do you folks handle your partners bad moods? My wife and I get along really well, rarely ever fight, but when she’s in a bad mood she takes it out on me. It’s not like she’s crossing any lines - no name calling or anything but she snaps at me when I try to help, and never apologizes. I can’t bring it up bc she says she should be allowed to feel whatever she feels - which is true I guess but being a jerk to me is different than just being in a bad mood. Am I wrong? Unreasonable?

My coworker is struggling a lot at work, and he has been asking me for help whenever he has been assigned a task although he started before me.

As much as I don’t want to throw him under the bus, he does not understand basic math (PEMDAS) as a financial analyst. It has not been an isolated occurrence unfortunately……

Really disappointed with EY. Received news that a peer was let go for performance, but its completely evident this was bs. When people say the firm has no loyalty- believe it. Make sure to have your affairs in order- all expenses/benefits utilized, performance reviews saved and documented, client contacts saved (when applicable), knowledge of benefits transferral, anything else you can think of. Do not think for one second that you aren’t expendable.

Do you ever rate your call quality on Teams?

Just bought a peloton bike - so far loving it. Been feeling extremely lazy during covid but has given me extra motivation to work out. And even after covid don’t see myself going to classes anymore. It’s been great to be able to do classes anytime from my living room 😂. Highly recommend for anyone tempted to take the plunge.
