Tangentially, yes. I advise and assist our government relations team to further safety legislation. We’re not a disruptive startup, but we work with several, and we often ask for their input and assistance as we near the finish line in key jurisdictions. We affect laws at all levels, local to federal. It’s a tricky game, and we frequently involve lobbyists outside our org as well, in addition to local counsel.

I'm a first yr attorney at an insurance firm and am in the process of interviewing for an in-house position at a tech company. The position is pretty much generalist, but I get the impression I'd be working mostly on SaaS and partnership transactions. I definitely think I would like the transactional work better, but I am concerned about the long-term earning potential vs. partnership. How common is it to eventually make $400k+ in-house/how difficult is it to transition back to a firm? Thanks!

I am 7 years out in a transactional practice (real estate) and have an opportunity to move in house at a regionally respected company from a midsize firm. I have WFH flexibility at my current firm but bill about 1850-1900 per year. It would be about a 25% paycut. I have also been offered partnership starting in 2022 if I stay - not entirely clear what that long term structure looks like (would have to develop a partially independent book in next 3-5 years).
