Here’s a perfect example of totalitarianism, from an unelected official no less. You give them a finger, they’ll take the whole arm (and other organs if you’re below a certain age, but let’s leave that discussion for another day. Background: military, medical kept losing my record, received multiple doses of the same thing over and over, even the dreaded Anthrax series. I’m in a pickle. Currently working in multistate tax and I am not a fan. I just accepted a position with KPMG on their methods team (it sounds like interesting work and I’m sick of compliance). I put in my notice and my Deloitte manager is trying to fight for me. He wants to match the pay they are offering and get me into a group that I like more. I am a ball of anxiety. Loved the people I met with for KPMG, but having my manager push so hard for me is making me have second thoughts. Any input?
Anyone have friends in DXE India? I want to understand their policy for employees who can’t come to work due to long term disability. Cousin got a brain hemorrhage. Trying to reach to his manager and HR, meanwhile thought of just getting some info here.
My husband and I get along great on the weekends - we are amazing cohosts, we love to go out together, we find eachother compelling and charming. We also do well in “emergencies” - when one of us is sick or we a specific tough issues. But it feels like every weeknight is a tense and unpleasant chore of “who will make this decision about dinner/tv/how much time we should spend together in the evening vs doing our own thing” and I just feel like I can’t stand him only to be in love again Friday…
Junior working with ex v5 senior in M&A. He consistently asks me to turn major deliverables at the worst hours, think 10 pm Friday/Sat/Sun night “tonight” or “by tomorrow morning” even when there is no closing date in sight. When I push back he says my behavior is unacceptable. The times when I have been able to actually meet his expectations and give him the deliverable for review, he will get back to me with comments at least a week later. Sick of these false deadlines. Help
Ill say it again, we should start considerin splitting the Union. There is a minority of the US who wants a mad man in charge. There is very little reason for the majority to abide by this.

Has anyone given any thought to the possibility of keeping quarantined staff and students at school in a separate area and allow instruction to be monitored by said staff? I am not talking ones who are truly feeling ill but we have teachers who have had to ne home with allergy like symptoms...those teachers could monitor students who are also not feeling ill in an area a way from the nonquarantined student body...maybe other schools have students have students who work their hearts out not our
My partner feels at unease around my parents. She thinks that my mother doesn’t like her (she adores her) and feels like she doesn’t fit in. I don’t see what she is seeing but I also want to support her. How can I ease her anxiety around my family and make her feel more welcomed ?

I'm renting co-working space for a remote job in a building specializing in providing startups with dynamically sized workspace. Our county, city, and the building owners themselves all have mask mandates in place for individuals regardless of vax status. I've reported most of the people on the floor to the building admin for violating the mandates multiple times. How many more until I should escalate to the city?

Didn’t go to top tier law school and graduated with 3.2 gpa yet have 3 years experience and being lawyer was 2nd career. Recently working with a boutique for per diem work who gave offer which is a lot lower than prior role (over $40k). Role would have no billables and practically 50% split—what are your thoughts?
