Great firm known for restructuring consulting and private equity performance improvement. Low base pay, extremely high bonus structure (common to see ~100% bonuses). I’ve heard the culture can be very harsh

Analysts are not on the “formula” as it’s referred to. They only get a salary, unsure about the bonus. Associates+ are eligible for utilization driven bonuses which is where the real money is made. That’s on a lower base of course (vs. industry avg), but if you’re hitting anywhere near utilization targets, you’re probably coming out at the upper end of T2 compensation. Firm culture is unique to each practice area and can be dependent on the SD/MD you’re aligned with. So i’d recommend you really get to know the people/group you’d be working with. Given the PE/Restructuring/M&A focus, the work is incredibly interesting, but fast paced. You should know what you’re signing up for. I’m in the Healthcare group (one of the few industry specific practices that exists) and I absolutely love it.

A&M are great, they are one of the best known in the M&A/deals space; lots of potential for financially minded people.

The ones I know have all traveled. It may be different in bigger cities like NYC

I believe average comp for an analyst is ~$75k, however, that will vary depending on practice. As previously mentioned, as you move up the comp model can get quite lucrative if you’re a high performer. My travel comes in spurts depending on projects. Sometimes I have projects with a long stint at home, other times I’m on the road M-Th for months. My favorite thing about A&M is the people.

Our comp model varies a lot by group so it really depends which one you’re interested in. Bonus will generally be the biggest factor even as an analyst

I graduated last year and was promised a full time salary of 60k (marketing). However, my start date was exactly when Covid hit hard and everyone froze their hiring process and took salary cuts, so my company cut my TC in half. I was loyal to my company and it didn’t hit hard until now. They’re starting to hire many more people in a diff department which makes me think they have the budget now. How should I start and navigate this conversation? Thanks in advance 🙏🏼 (Cross-posted)

Would you rather work for an older, more established company with lots of employees, average salary and a slow climb of the ladder to leadership? OR Would you rather work for a relatively new startup with 2000 employees, GREAT salary and quick career progression, but alot of learning because it’s a startup.? P.S. both companies are known across the globe.

With so many people reportedly leaving consulting, I’m wondering how common is it to leave for less TC? MBB comp $200k+ at 27. Do most people get increases above that or just go to jobs sitting at $150k but that “have better WLB”? *Not looking to include those that switch to industries with intentional disregard about comp (eg public sector, charity, teaching etc).

I’m frustrated that I’m always expected to do everything for our LO since I’m working from home. Five days a week, I do all the drop offs and pickups. When the baby is napping, I prep all her bottles and solids to pack with for daycare. Today, on top of everything else I had to take our dog to the vet. My husband hasn’t even offered to do anything because it’s easier for me to do it.
