What is a salary for an Environmental, Health, & Safety (EH&S) director in NJ?

Is it worth exploring contract to hire position at Walmart while I am currently a FTE at a product company (average salary and decent workload)? I told them unless they confirm that they would hire after 3-4 months, I wouldn't be comfortable. Any suggestions on how to approach this ? The housing price in NY and California made it difficult to afford a single family house even with a biglaw salary. I currently work as a civil engineer/project manager for a county government. I recently applied to a private consulting firm and they are now working on an offer package to send over.

While I'd like to jump to the private side for several reasons (higher salary my #1), with the current macro economic uncertainties, I have some concern making the switch from a (generally) stable government job to a less stable (?) private company. Is there anything I can do when negotiating to mitigate this?

Need to verify one quote I got from recruiter - "at Sr Manager level, profit sharing comes into picture as additional compensation over and abovr Fixed and Cash Bonus, at roughly 30% of Fixed". This seems to be pitched as added advantage over BCG comp as a PL. Skeptical about the claim as I assumee overall comp at any level in same geography will be similar across MBB. Thinking about making the jump to PE. I have HSP consistently reaching out to me about positions making me want to shoot my shot. I’m a recent college grad coming up on 1 YOE. My current work has nothing to do with finance. I’m working on the functional/business team for a tech implementation. Realistically how much time should I spend preparing for an associate level interview. I have a finance background and had a PE internship so concepts won’t be new but I’ll still need to relearn.
