I got you fam. Anomaly Goes Through Round of Layoffs By Minda Smiley on Mar. 10, 2020 Anomaly has gone through a round of layoffs in its New York office. According to a statement from founding partner and executive chairman Carl Johnson, the agency has parted ways with “around 15 people,” or roughly 5% of its 300-person staff in New York. “Last year we were fortunate to enjoy 40% growth, and we’ve started the year maintaining good momentum—we have, though, evolving skill set requirements as we expand even more deeply into product innovation and digital transformation,” he said, noting that the agency let go of 15 staffers as a result. “And we have as many open briefs that we are interviewing for across those different skill sets. The talent pool is never static—nor should it be—as you constantly strive for excellence.” Last month, Johnson said Anomaly resigned the Hershey business in November, claiming that they’d had a great run but reached a stage where they were “no longer bringing out the best in each other.” Hershey disputed the claim. Droga5 and Mcgarrybowen now handle the chocolate company’s creative duties in the U.S. The agency also recently parted ways with Eric Segal, who’d served as chief creative officer of its New York office. Anomaly eliminated the role altogether as a result of founding partner and global chief creative officer Mike Byrne’s desire to take a more active role in driving the agency’s creative Theeee End.

So, a spot I made (concept to completion) got shelved due to COVID forcing the client’s marketing plan to change. During that time, my partner and I were laid off. Recently, the spot aired, but the agency credits a different team for the work – me, my parter, and my CDs aren’t listed. Do I ask the agency to correct it? Just throw it in my book with explanation? Just take the L and chalk it up to that being how the industry is?

Unexpectedly leaving consulting for industry. Background isn’t in apparel but got an offer to join a large international apparel company as a product director and decided to make the jump. Current TC is $183k with annual bonus between 10-20%. New TC will be $200k, $50k signing, annual bonus of 15-40%, and progression path to VP. Will also be managing teams around the world, so opportunity to travel internationally, which is a perk in my book.

Received an email this week that anyone interested in staying after school one hour each week with their PLC team will receive their hourly rate to work on PLC related content. This includes lesson planning, creation/gathering of appropriate resources, data analysis, etc. So basically, all the work we're doing after school anyway will be compensated for one of these hours. I'll take it. 🤷‍♀️
