I would look at British law firms with offices in Germany. The problem is that there are plenty of Germans that will have your qualifications and speak German, making them more valuable... But what part of Germany? You might find some luck at large multinationals (or startups if that's your vibe)

Oh and he would much prefer not to work in a corporate law firm again due to the bad work life balance/grind and how it's been affecting his mental health. I know consulting firms likely wont be much different but it would help him spin his career into a different direction and have better exit opps in the future so definitely considering that route.
