Hello! I am not happy with my current job position. I also just found out that we are pregnant and I feel stuck. My hope would be to move into a remote position but am afraid of the change as well as any annoyance about taking maternity leave from a new manager/ team. I am driving both me and my husband crazy. We both work from home in a 4 bedroom home pretty decent size. My husband wants to do daycare and id prefer a nanny. Partner gets upset and calls me to complain every time I don’t turn a draft within 2hrs of receiving an email. This same partner has been sitting on a draft for two weeks. How do I get myself out of this situation? I’m at capacity, working as fast as I can, and they’re stressing me out.

Recently lateraled to a new firm and am regretting my decision. While I’m happy to be out of my previously toxic firm, the transition in the new firm has been disorganized and stressful. Several things that I asked about during my interviews and was told were true by teammates have not been (i.e. paralegal/ jr support is non-existent) and there’s been almost no on-boarding support. Any advice on next steps? I hate to lateral again so quickly and fear how it will look to other firms.

When a mid level works with a junior, should the junior send the final product to the partner or the mid level? I am a mid level now, but I started as a junior as part of a growing practice group. At the time, there weren’t many associates in our group, so I always worked with the partners directly. Junior here. Any advice on how to deal with a mid who rushes my work?

I’m on a matter where the mid regularly rushes my work. If I say something will take me an hour, they will instead have a 20 minute conversation telling me it should take me 30 minutes. When I let them rush me, I inevitably make mistakes.

Whenever I say something will take me time, they ask me why. When I explain why (e.g., number of documents, I want to double-check X), they tell me they don’t want to hear my excuses.

M&A/corporate lawyers - what project/deal management system does your team use (if any)? My group has about 6 or 7 of us and probably 15 deals and 4 public company clients. We’re looking for a way to keep track of who’s working on what (not specific tasks but more like what deals, status of those deals, capacity).

Decision - I was out the door of my nationwide ins dfense firm. Was going to top local firm with a lot more clout where everything would be private pay and I’d be more on bigger exposure cases. However, my firm outmatched the new firm, made a much better bonus structure, and said I could do more work with their complex bus lit group. I’d still likely do about 50 percent ins defense but I really like the partners I work for, and I handle own cases/take depos, and get autonomy. Am I right to stay?
