How did you go about getting on boards ?

This year has been a rollercoaster in so many ways. I had very inconsistent months of billing and although I haven’t met my hours yet, the work just keeps piling up and I am certain I will meet them before EOY. But I feel like I am dying. I billed 65 hours last week and am into hour 30 of this week, with no end in sight. Every time someone from work asks how I’m doing and I say I’m *a bit* busy, the first question is whether I’ve met my hours yet. (Cont. in comments)

Recommendations for legal career coaches? I’m finishing up my first year (rotational) and I’m feeling pretty lost. Have spoken to a few people at the firm but generally not getting good mentorship.

I’m leaving biglaw after 3.5 years. The people in my group are fine but never developed a strong bond with anyone including partners (I will be pushed out sooner or later). Also I don’t really like the work (deals and fund investments). Moving to a much smaller firm with slightly lower billable target that pays market. I will be doing more interesting work, in a smaller group where partners seem to care about my growth. God I hope this is a right move.. any advice would be much appreciated.

Why can't a placement agent combine or integrate the offering of interests in the sponsor's fund with the contemporaneous offering of interests in another fund? I recently lateraled to BigLaw. The senior associate told me (unprompted) that I need to be available on weekends. Happy to help as needed and be responsive to emails, but how should I go about setting boundaries to run errands, see family, etc.? I understand that there will be fire drill weeks, but if nothing is due for a quick turnaround, how do you communicate that you might be away for a few hours?
