There was an occupational index paperback book that I got for my high-school aged kids
and read cover to cover that had all these details! What skills work best for the job; what the 4-year graduation rate was; total student debt; ease of getting entry level job and ten-year growth in the field.
I was stunned.
The kids never read it.

Different roles for sure. Both depend on firm structure, in my opinion. Becoming partner at a growing boutique (either asset manager or consultant) could provide comparable compensation if the firm is successful. Could be hard to accelerate as quickly at behemoth organizations (fidelity or aon respectively). I would say comp for a senior consultant would be higher than for a director of relationship management 🤷♀️ it’s a harder job.
